Gas prices in California

Gasoline prices all over are very high. Here in Southern California the most inexpensive gas is at $4.29 a gallon. This has caused a lot of problems in a State where many people live 60 miles or more from work. What is the gas price where you live?

I live about 20 minutes west of Boston and I would say that the cheapest gas around here is about $3.98/gallon for self-serve gas. However, I've noticed it to be about $4.10/gallon at full-service stations.

Don't even think we have full service stations out here (CA) any more. Everything is self serve pump yourself. Things being the way they are, I doubt anybody would be able to pay the extra for service anyway, that'd be at least 10-15 cents tacked onto the highest price, which here is approaching $4.60/gal.

I haven' seen any self-service gas station in California in a long time. Thanks for your reply.

Gas is over $4.00 a gallon here in Nevada. I'm not filling up my tank anymore. I just can't bring myself to spend that much all at once. I imagine the folks that have to drive all that way to work have got to be hurting. At the minimum maybe $25.00 a day going to and from work, is my math right? Also, maybe I'm paranoid or wrong, but I swear the gas I put in the car isn't lasting as long as it used to. I need to check my mileage on my little car - seems that gas gage is going down faster.

Talking about little cars my daughter has a small volkswagon and it cost her $62.00 to fill up.

Gas in Missouri is suppose to be the lowest in the country. It's right around $3.79 per gallon. This gas increase is ridiculous. My husband filled up his suv the other day, only needed a little over a half a tank, and it was close to $60.00. I feel sorry for the people who need to work, have a distance to drive to work and spend a good part of their paychecks on gasoline. Minimum wage people have a really rough time. Just seems like the whole system is rather lopsided.

Oh my gosh naty, I was reading your discussion and I thought I had to work it out. Curiousity got the better of me. At todays exchange rate, people in Ireland are paying the equivalent of 9.46USD. per gallon to your 4.39USD a gallon. Its shocking the difference in price in different countries. :-)

Very shocking. I don't know how people in Ireland are doing it at $9.46 a gallon. WoW

It was up to $4.15 then went down to 4.08, but I have not been out in a couple of days, so it is probably up over 4.15 again. Unfortunately this is only going to get worse.

The cheapest now here is $4.39 and that was a couple hours ago as i was almost home. They seem to change the prices a couple times a week out here. I last got it at Costco for $4.31 but since that was last week, I'm sure that's gone up. I know the prices are not going to come down at all based on how much I drive or don't drive so I am not purposely NOT driving, just hoping that those in power who can force the prices down start feeling the crunch soon so they do something. It looks like another depression is on its way - and for what? Because we can't stand up for ourselves and stop paying top dollar for foreign imported stuff?
