If a building was burning down to the ground and you could only safely save one person would you save sweet, kind elderly man or an annoying, disrespectful small child?

Hands down, it would be the child no matter what. A child has the potential to grow and learn from their life, the elderly man has lived his life. If he is the sweet, kind man that this scenario would suggest he would insist on the child due to this very fact that he has lived his life and the child is just starting his.

The child. The old man has lived a long full life. The child needs a chance to live his or hers, Besides annoying children don't necssarily become annoying adults. Lol.

I see the dilemma. Save the elderly man who is probably going to die shortly anyway but who would be more appreciative of your efforts, or save the child who has a full life ahead of them but would not care for your trouble. I honestly have no idea who I would choose.
While I like to think I would help the elderly gentleman, my instincts would probably lead me to save the child. They may be disrespectful and annoying but I would probably find it easier to save them as they would be smaller, but would also be less tolerable of the effects of the fire and would be just as likely to die as the elderly man. When it comes down to it, disrespectful or not, I would be tempted to save the child on account of them having the best rate of survival afterwards.
That was a toughie - good one!
