I am ful term in my pregnancy and have technically been in labor for like a week and a half now. I went in to the hospital once already to have them check on me, but my problem is that most of what I'm going through is back labor. My first one was induced, and so this is kind of new for me. How do I know when I truly need to go in besides when my water actually breaks?

Oh boy, I had labor for almost three weeks before my third one was born, lol. I was at 1cm after the first day or so, but then it just stopped being productive. It was irregular and only every so often. Real labor is increasingly painful. Backlabor will radiate to the front and eventually be all around. Once your contractions come every five minutes, that's when you go to the hospital. At that point the pain may be so intense you will have trouble breathing. In fact with my last two I was on my hands and knees at home just trying to make it through the contractions before we could finally go to the hospital.

Prodromal labor is what that is called. I was (with silent labor or silent prodromal labor) 8 cm, 90 % effaced for 15 weeks with my second of which 10 weeks of that was strict bed rest in a hospital bed with doctor supervision. (that was the suckiest pregnancy experience of my life and utterly boring 10 weeks of my life being stuck in a hospital bed for 10 weeks)
