Sell Online to India

United States

I can't say that I've ever sold anything online to anyone from India, yet because of the popularity of the English language there and because of the huge population, it would seem that India is a market that is waiting to be tapped by online sellers. And since there are a number of people from India on myLot who are frequent and avid responders, perhaps they might have some advice as to what an online seller might consider in trying to make sales to India. What sorts of products (physical and digital) are popular?

I think that is part of the challenge for online sales to anywhere, is knowing whether or not you can trust the reputation of the person on the receiving end of your money. That's part of the reason that a place like eBay does so well, is because eBay users carry ratings to tell whether or not they can be trusted as a seller. Part of the reason that Amazon does so well is because they focus very highly on customer service and making sure that the customer is pleased - even to the point of being willing to allow dissatisfied customers to return merchandise, etc. So I would agree that online sales to anywhere is going to be tough, because it is so hard to build a relationship like you would with someone in the more traditional style of "brick and mortar" sales.

That would be very interesting. With a huge population, India will be a huge market for some products. India is also an exporter country, exporting many products all over the world.
