Ouch!!!!, I feel a few months ago on the sidewalk. I hit a patch of ice and down I went hard. My knees hurt for a long time. The one knee still hurts and is been about 5 months now. I don't have any medical insurance so I keep hoping that it quits hurting soon. I am glad it wasn't worse then that and no broken bones.

Ekk...that's a "beauty" Did you put anything on it so it won't get infected...like good ole Peroxide...I know stings like a "b" but that's what my great-grandmother swore by.
Oh I have a real winner of a story...It was maybe 6 or 7 o'clock on Christmas Evening...there are a few supermarkets near me that believe it or not were/are still open near me on Christmas..though do close earlier than their usual ten. I had to get some last minute things and took my shopping wagon as I had to get a few heavy things..like believe it or not a twenty pound bag of litter...like geez, heaven forbid my cats went without litter on Christmas. Okay now I'm on my way back...loaded down with this stuff in my shopping wagon..they had been doing some breaking up of the main street and had put one of those metal slabs over the broken up part of the street...I'm crossing, hurrying to get to the other side, when my wagon hits the slab...and fell over and landed on top of the wagon that kind of capsized on me..I was in a LOT of pain as my one leg hit against the wagon full impact...but here I am sprawled on the street...and the light is changing and I'm envisioning being run over by cars...what pissed me off was NO ONE tried to help me get up, and there were people around...I did manage to hoist myself up at last, and thankfully I guess the folks in the cars saw that a person..me...had been lying on the street and didn't move until I was up and out of the way..to this day I'm so ticked that no one tried to help me up though or ask if I were okay...uh, NO I wasn't okay!

I saw a video like that, with a motorcycle accident and no one helping. It is amazing how we lack compassion anymore. Or we all assume someone else will do it. I guess you will not forget the litter on a holiday again. Did you break anything, it sounds awful.

Well, it probably IS georgous, just not today! I have done stuff like that plenty of times... I'm very uncoordinated sometimes. Keep it clean so it doesn't get infected!

Gery I am a klutz, I am just getting over a broken little toe that I hurt kicking the end of my grand daughters bed. I know that is not as embarrassing as doing it in full view of down town traffic, but just letting you know I am capable of it... I bet you are going to be sore tomorrow hun. Take care of it, maybe some ice packs would help.

Ouch, I hope you are okay.
Yes, I've done something embarrassing like this before, but instead of it being my knee it was my head. While I was outside with my kids I grabbed a chair and sat underneath my apricot tree. There had been some tree people next door at my neighbor's house trimming her trees. So I watched a little of what was going on. I decided to stand up and as I did so I hit a rather big limb that was right above me. WHACK! Right on the top of my head! I had forgotten all about the limb being right above me. I have no doubt at least a worker or 2 saw what happened, even though they didn't say anything to me about it. Oh well, that's what I get for not paying attention to what I was doing.

That does hurt. I am guilty of tangling with branches in my yard as well, but not when people are looking.

Ouch! I remember once I was visiting my sister when I was a kid and we were walking somewhere. I stopped to tie my shoe and then started to run to catch up with them. I tripped and fell forward. I kissed the pavement with my chin. Big ole scuff mark all the way across my chin. Hurt like crazy!

Most people often wind up in the ER from the simplest of accidents.
Stepping off a curb is one of the things that we do a lot, and mainly never think about before we do it...
I once wound up on my back, looking up at the sky... and wondering what the hell just happened-- From the same type of accident, so Gerty, you are not alone! :)
I hope that you heal quickly and well! :)

I hate when that happens. Especially in front of people I'll actually see again. Like at church, or when I was in school. People at the grocery store I can make myself feel better by reminding myself I'll probably never see them again. Not so with others.

Ouch! That looks painful! If you are like me, though, you were more worried about the embarrassed part than being hurt.
I have fallen a few times, but mostly on ice. Except for this one time...I worked at a really old building that used to be a hospital. There were lots of old trees with roots as big as boulders! lol One minute I was walking across the yard with some friends, leaving work, when both my feet ended up under a huge root. I went down! Hard, on both knees. It looked like I was praying! lol
My friends were trying to get me up, not knowing that my feet were stuck under the root. I had to sit back on my rear, pull my feet out and then stand up. I think 50 people must have seen that. Both my knees were bruised, but mostly it was my dignity that got bruised! :P
Hope you heal up soon!

That took real talent, I think. And some pondering on how to get out. My leg feels better today already, and I worked an eleven hour day. I hope your fifty people did not know you.

I am using a medicated, home made wipe that has tea tree and lavender for disinfectant. Luckily it looks worse than it is.

I did this a lot as a kid, myself. I am much older and heavier now. You know the bigger you are the harder you fall.

Oh my that looks horrible , I hope it feels better soon. I always seem to fall and hurt myself atleast a few times a year. I was at last years 4th of july fireworks , and i was in a hurry and missed the curb. My ankle went right under me and i had this huge bruise and was limping around for a week or so. I felt so silly after it happened.

That sounds like what I did, but I did not seem to get a big bruise, and I do not have a limp.I am going to have to see if I bruised my hip, I think it took some impact.

Ever watched the movie "Good luck Chuck" with Jessica Alba? That's me in real life! I must be the biggest Klutz know to mankind. My body is permanently full of bruises and I can never recall where I got them. Everyday my BF just looks at me and sighs. Just the other day I sprained my ankle by missing a step in our house! I am so used to embarrass myself in front of others and in public, I just laugh at myself everytime I do something - it's a little bit easier on the ego ;-)

I really enjoy it here! Mmmmmwa!

Not a large town, so probably only a handful of passers-by, plus the guys taking out the large tree that distracted me in the first place.

oh garden gerty that picture made me cringe.ouch for you
yes two years ago I not only embarrassed myself in an
unexpected fall right in front of my favorite restaurant
but I decimated totally the bones in my left shoulder
and ended up in the hospital with a fractured shoulder
that had to be replaced with a metal and plastic shoulder
joint replacement, then three weeks in rehab. and I never
got to eat the breakfast I had started out to go to the
restaurant for in the first place.lol now I can laugh.

I am fortunate to not fall that hard, and to have lots of padding. It feels much better today. I bet that was a sore reminder of your fall, though.

Ouch! How is it now?
When that sort of thing happens I'm never sure whether it is my body or my pride which is hurt the most. Did anyone stop to assist you? I do always stop if I see someone fall, but often I think they'd prefer to pretend nothing had happened!
