Have you ever seen your *twin*

You know the situation. Your friend tells you that the person over there looks exactly like you and when you look at the person, you're either: a) affronted or b) perplexed - because you wonder, "how can someone think I look like *that*?". We all know what we look like, but it's weird to see how others perceive you. My question is, have you ever seen someone that YOU think looks like yourself? It's happened to me once. I was driving in the car and was stopped at a red light. As I glanced at the car beside me, I saw a person who (I thought) looked exactly like me! It was the strangest feeling. Has this ever happened to you?

I had my doppleganger going to the same school as me! It was utterly bizarre, especially for freshman year. All these people who I'd never met before kept approaching me and calling me by a different name. Eventually someone showed me the girl's picture on Facebook, and I have to admit, we DO look a lot alike- hairstyle, eyes, face shape, the whole nine yards. Sadly, I never actually met her, though I made friends with one or two of HER friends.

I love that word "doppleganger". I think it's one of the neatest words in the english dictionary. But I digress, I think it'd be strange to have gone to school with someone that people kept confusing you with. But I'm amazed that you girls never met each other. You must've gone to a big school then, no?

Yeah, it was odd we never met face to face, but sort of a relief. You ever hear of any of those superstitions about what happens if you meet a doppleganger? lol. Anyway, yeah, our school is/was quite big, with tens of thousands of undergrads alone.

My experience happened many years ago. While I was still a teenager, my family took a trip to Six Flags.
My dad took his video camera. My sister and I split off from our parents for most of the day.
I really don't know why my dad was videotaping, since we didn't really hang with them.
Anyway, later we watched the video and saw a girl that we ALL thought was me. He was on the air ride that goes from one end of the park to the other so you don't have to walk. He even zoomed on the girl and said "there's Patty".
After looking at the film again I realized I didn't own the clothes that girl was wearing!!!!!!!
It was a weird feeling for sure.

That's a funny story and neat that you caught it on camera because now you'll always have this neat story and visualization to show and tell your family and friends for many years to come. Thanks for sharing your story!

i have met several in my lifetime- though short, i know of about four people that others say i look like. growing up, there was a girl that i was friends with that looked a lot like me. until puberty anyway, then she blew up, and i stayed the same. some of my dad's older brothers think that i look like my cousin lorraine. she's about 20 years older than me. we have similar height and weight, but her skin tone is lighter than mine and she has bright red hair and freckles. some of my dad's younger siblings think that i look like his youngest sister. i often get mistaken to be her daughter. i guess we look alike enough, but i definately wouldn't say twins. my mom thinks that i look exactly like her niece. i don't see it with that one, but i let her think what she wants.

Sounds like the genes in your family are quite strong that allow for characteristics to become so similar amongst family members. Thanks for your response!

I have seen some who looks a lot like me in some features. But I haven't seen someone who I can consider as a "twin" in terms of the looks. I still see myself as a unique person. I still don't think I have a "twin" in this world. But if I would have one, that would be a loss for him, because I don't look good.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure there is someone out there that looks like you and they are blessed as you are! Thanks for the response.

I have and it sure was rather creepie! I was 22 and dating an older man. His children kept telling that I looked like his old girlfriend. When I asked them more about her, they told me her name and where she worked which happened to be a block from where I lived at the time. I asked my boyfriend about her and he showed me a photo of her and sure enough we could've been identical twins. After we broke up, I ran into her at a sandwich shop and apparently the 2 had patched things up and were giving it another shot. How bizarre!

Not at all. I think I have a common look. I always get mistaken as someone else. This makes me believe that there's someone out there who looks somewhat like me. I haven't see her but I'm not so sure if I really want to see her. I think I rather not.
