If you like to really meet a ghost, and you want it fast then wait till night and go visit a graveyard. Although it isn't safe at all, couse many psycho's can catch you there. Old houses, castles, ruines, towers and such things. Sometimes schools or hospitals. I think that those are the best places to investigate.

Been there and done it all, Ruins, Gravyards, Private Homes etc....Its well spooky and always in a group, NEVER go alone has it aint sfae in today's world. Good Advice and New Beginner's take note.
