Have You Ever Done A Discussion...And....???

I started a discussion where I was asking folks here if it were possible to freeze cherries...then I mentioned the fact and asked did you know that cherries were good for arthritis and goat conditions
....uh, notice the mistake??..I for some reason typed goat when I meant GOUT
A fellow dear friend pointed out my mistake and I had a laughing fit about it...and I was wondering...if anyone else had noticed, and if they did just didn't mention it..or maybe they read it as gout instead of goat
So did you ever find a stupid mistake in your typing and typed one word but meant another completely different one???

I was laughing aloud. Thank you Pye.
I made similar mistakes in many of my posts.
I wish we can edit our posts at least once....

Ya I've done that BUT not just a slight error like that I've meant to type one word and ended up typing a completely different word that wasnt even remotely close to the one I wanted LOL IN FACT there ahve been rare occasions when I've been typing along and typed a completely different sentence than intended...I mean COMPLETELY different...Its actually funny yet bizarre when that happens Luckily I catch it before hitting send/post etc..

The different sentence might come from something that may have been floating around in your thoughts, whether or not you were aware of thinking of it at the time. Like, I know that if I am paying too much attention to the television as I am typing, I will type the word smoothie (a smoothie commercial was just on as I wrote that) instead of smooch or a similar word, or depending if the sentence was similar to the one I had in mind to type, the whole sentence could be altered and changed. It is like your train of thought did not derail, but some external force played a prank and switched your tracks.

Though I am a pretty good speller, sometimes I still mis spell words even using word check. The good thing about spell check is that it will tell you when you mis spell words, but the downside is that it won't pick it up if the mis spelled version is actually another word. So, I am sure that I post a mis spelled word from time to time.

Are you misspelling "misspell" on purpose?

I am sure I have, usually short words. The trick is that it is a word that is in spell check. It is not spelled wrong, it is used wrong. I am so far behind, I missed that discussion. I have to go check it out. I find it interesting, I just posted a cherry discussion last night. I can hardly wait for mine to be ripe.

I'll have to check your cherry discussion...yes, spellcheck doesn't always work when you type one word and it's right, but you meant a completely different word.

Oh I typed a response once and instead of saying mixed veg I said miced veg and then after I noticed added a comment incase people thought I ate rodents for dinner. LOL. Perhaps cherries are good for goats? LOL. I always read through any typing mistakes and just answer discussion as I make so many myself. I think my brain thinks faster than my fingers type. Ellie :D

Yes, the great American author did a typo...LOL. I remember reading in his autobiography that he did a few major spelling/typos that got his agent laughing with hysterics...who am I talking about? Stephen King

Hi pyewacket! I have seen and responded to that post my dear friend and I surely did notice the goat/gout. I just ignored it knowing that it is just a typographical error on your part. Although, I found it funny. haha..But it never occurred to me that you don't know how to spell it correctly since You are such a good writer and writers like you know their vocabulary well.
Take Care and Happy Mylotting!

I sure wish they had an edit button here, so that when we find a mistake we can correct it...spellcheck doesn't help since goat was spelled right

Hi Pye-no I didn't notice that but do know that when I'm getting tired and responding to people that I make loads of mis-spellings yet still people resond to my dicussions too if the same thing happens-really I think others realize what you mean or just give their point of view on the subject you posted eg cherries-your friend littleowl

I did a discussion on the show Big Brother. The Title was something like God Made at... but, I meant God Mad at... or something like that. It may have been God Mad and I meant God Made...either way, it drove me crazy seeing it in the title! Every time I saw it, I would cringe and get all embarrassed! LOL! No one corrected me. Everyone seemed to have just understood what I meant but, for those who didn't follow my regular discussions on Big Brother...I don't even want to think about what their reactions were to the title! LOL!

Ekk...I think that's worse when the wrong spelling of a word is in the title of a discussion..like it's glaring right at you..have my share of those too

LOL! I know! You can hope to avoid some of the embarrassment when your typo or whatever, is in the body of your discussion. But, when it is in the title, it is seen by anyone and everyone that has added that interest to their profile and has you in their friends list, and if it stays on on the top discussions list for a while...it is right there in front of people for as long as it is up there! LOL!

Oh how wonderful. I haven't seen that one yet (still trawling through my emails - all 1,000 of them!) but I would probably have noticed, I did reading this and it too made me laugh. What a lovely typo!
I used to type for a living and we came across some wonderful typos. Gone are the days when you had to type directly on to paper and carbon copies - now that was horrendous, thankfully now we have computers and we can change (almost) everything before we send it to print
Thanks for sharing this with us!

Oh yes, I'm from the typewriter age myself....was a real nuisance trying to correct typos..first the plain eraser method, then came white-out which made things messy looking...the newer typwriters were better with the correction strip..still have my typewriter too

Ah-hem, yes me too, still have that old contraption sitting in my mother's house, gathering dust. I don't even know if you can buy the old refill cartridges for it or correction tape. Ho hum... what would we do without the computer and the internet :)

The first discussion I started was about song for walking down the aisle... And I wrote "sog" instead of "song" in the title! Hard luck, that's going to stay there for ever!
