waterproof cameras

I live in the Caribbean and regular cameras last a year at best with intensive use because of the marine climate. So i bought a Pentax waterproof camera but it was stolen...
I noticed Olympus also has one, also in the 280-300$ range. Like the Pentax, they go until 10ft under water which is fine.
Anybody knows better options?
