Barking Cats

My Lucy has this weird little sound that she makes if she sees a bird out the window. It sounds like she's barking. This has my poor 4 year old terribly confused. She keeps trying to teach the cat how to meow. As cute as this can be I'm still tripped out when I hear her start barking.It's a new trick too, she didn't do it until after she had the babies. Does anyone else have a cat that barks?

My girl Voodoo makes the cutest "Murf" noise that's like a cross between a woof and a meow. It's adorable and very, very weird!

This is utterly bizzare and i think a lot of people would agree with me. My grandmothers cat, Dum Dum, makes this weird sound when she's asleep or eating which sounds like she humming to herself. It would be very confusing for your 4 year old because dogs bark not cats, maybe something happened when Lucy had her kittens that triggered off her barking.
Give your son/daughter my luck in teaching Lucy to meow *meow*

My Maxie "barks" sometimes, though the sounds he makes are hardly audible. Sometimes, I could almost swear that my Mimi does the same.
Not all cats make such sounds, though. My other two cats, Columbus and Waffles, watch birds and squirrels quietly.

See yeah, her mother (Ms.Molly) doesn't bark. She's my sophisticated kitty all proper and quiet. Lucy is my silly kitty,playful and forever getting into trouble. I loved watching them grow up and develop their own little personalities, it's a lot like my kids.

My cat does it all the time. I call it chattering. His whiskers start to twitch and his mouth makes these vibrating movements. I did have a siamese cat years ago that did sound like he was trying to bark. I love it.
