people love to sing, i'm sure you've had your chance on stage or just with your friends or even in the shower....is there a particular event wherein you sang and you know that you'll always remember that moment? i'd love to know about it...what happened?

I was the lead singer of a band for a little more than 3 years. We played quite a few shows that I will never forget. Some are remebered for the lack of an audience, wild bar fights or a particularly bad performances. But my most memorable moments singing on stage happened while I was in college within a month of each other.
The first was an opening gig for the alternative rock band Fuel at the perfmoring arts center of our school. The audience was probably about 1,200 people and was the most intimidating crowd we had ever played in front of up to that point.
The next month we were voted in to play the annual outdoor music festival on campus. It was in the middle of April which can be still be pretty cold in the state of Maine. Our slot was two slots before the band Eve 6. I never heard any numbers of people that showed up for that show but we couldn't see the back of the crowd from the stage. It was a very nerve-racking experience but my voice held out somehow.
I haven't performed on stage in about 2 years. I used to get pretty nervous but I still miss it a lot.

I dunno how i missed your response....sorry if I replied late.
I see you've been exposed quite a lot to gigs, you must really sing like a pro. I've never been to rock concerts but I used to watch my brothers' gigs when I was still in school. But your experience was totally awesome. That's quite a feat for someone so young. I bet your family and friends are all proud.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Hope you get to be on stage again, soon!!

I wouldn't say I sing like a pro, especially now. But back then I could hold my own. I haven't been in a band for a while but you can hear some of my recent tunes in my profile.
It's really going to be hard to match those two experiences but doesn't mean I'm not going to take a shot at it. It was awesome that my family and a lot of friends were able to attend both shows. I even apologized to my Mom on stage for dropping the s-bomb at the Fuel show. hehe My family and friends have always been so supportive, that's what really got shy me up in front of 1,200 people in the first place.
I hope to be hitting the stage soon too. Thanks for the response, better late then never. :-)

I sang "The Rose" at my cousins wedding and while I was singing, the bride and groom were to present a rose to each of the mothers. Well, the bride's train got stuck on something and it took about 30 seconds for the maid of honor to get her unstuck. Meanwhile, one of the groomsmen could barely contain his laughter and instead of letting everyone see, he looked directly at me the whole time. I barely got through the song! It was definitely a memorable performance!

I'm smiling while reading your entry, it must have been really cute. I admire the way you handled your live singing performance even with what's happening around you. And to be stared at by a guy trying to contain his laughter the whole time...whew...you're a real performer. Thanks.

hey, don't feel bad...you're still young, and it's natural to lose control specially if you're not really a pro...i'm sure the audience understand that and you should be proud you had the courage to stand up and share a song.
you know, there was also a time when i didn't give out my best. I was too confident of my talent that i didn't practice at all. so, as expected, i didn't give an impressive performance and the audience who used to love me sing gave their attention to somebody else, that hurt!!
so now i learned my lesson...i know it really pays to practice, practice and more practice.
thanks for sharing!!

Oh, this one's easy! Without a doubt, it was the time when my college Chorale (the highest-level choral group), along with the local symphony and city Chorale got together to perform Beethoven's 9th Symphony (we sang the choral part in German, which was very, very awesome). It was unbelievable...I was on the soprano part (not the easiest part, let me tell you--there was no way you could sing this piece without having a good warm-up beforehand), and we sang way up into the rafters for much of the piece, from a B above the staff to a sustained A above the staff (roughly 12 measures of holding that note and no vibrato was allowed). Without a doubt, that was one of the proudest moments of my life. :D

Wow...you must given a lot of your audience goosebumps..that was really one very notable performance. Imagine holding a note that long. I hope you don't stop singing so you won't lose the magic. You're very gifted. Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience.
