... demanding 20 million peso. This is really insane! I received this news shocking news in my mailbox an hour ago. And was thinking maybe I can share this here. A television news team from the Philippines' largest network, including one of the country's best known journalists, was believed to have been abducted by members of the militant group Abu Sayyaf. Ces Drilon is a senior reporter for ABS-CBN, was with her cameraman and driver when they were intercepted on Sunday by armed men in Sulu, a province in the south where ABu Sayyaf and other islamic extremists are known to operate, the police said. This group is notorious for its kidnap not only Filipinos but also foreigners. The militants have been blamed for several major terrorist attacks across the Philippines in recent years. This group is asking a ransom money of 20 million peso. OMG! And then what? Buy some weapons and bombs? This is really crazy! They have damaged not only Mindanao but the entire Philippines. What your opinion about this?

Oh dear... ces is so unfortunate now for a fellow Filipino kidnapped her and taken her as a hostage. Hope they'll release her unharmed. All we can do is pray for her.

I remember Ces as the journalist who cried police brutality when they were questioned during the Manila Peninsula circus. Well, if it is true that she really got kidnapped, then good for her! She deserves it! And it is now ironic that the same institution that she accused of brutality is doing everything to save her and her crew. Must be an embarrassing experience for a so-called high profile journalist who is nothing but a bag of crud. Besides, i think the kidnapping may just be made up by the Lopezes to divert the public's attention from Meralco. The Abu Sayyaf has lately been non-scoop material, so why on earth did she think about interviewing them? Unless it was ALL made up. Also, if the kidnapping is true, then that is the risk every journalist takes. I think the so-called kidnapping is nothing but a trivial issue that should just be ignored.

I was shocked when I heard this news. Just today the camera man of ABS-CBN was released. But Ces Drillon and the MSU professor are still not freed. People are sick to this to innocent people. I hope CES Drillon and the others who were kidnapped will be released soon. And I hope that the culprits will be put to jail. The world is really not safe anymore!

So this is it. I failed to read this post of yours thats why I didn't know about the entire story. I remember I responded to one duscussion asking if a ransom was really given or not. I remember these abu sayaf also abducted the group of one senior GMA journalist last year and was able to watch the documentary report about their abduction. It was scary and you will really pity them. Anyway if the government or the concerned company (ABS-CBN or GMA Networks) paid ransom, I think abu sayaf will not stop doing this. The question is what will happen to the victims if the ransom asked is not paid? And if paid, who will be the next victim?

I've been following this news since it broke up. These Abu Sayyaf are really insane. Actually, Ces is not the only journalist that was abducted by these group. I remember that sometime ago, they held hostage a group of journalist including Vice President Noli de Castro and actor Robin Padilla, while negotiating for the release of a foreigner. They stayed in the camp for days and demanded 100 sacks of rice. Then the longest that was held hostage was journalist Arlene dela Cruz, she was held hostage for 3 months. I wonder why these people (Abu Sayyaf) doing these abductions. What are they fighting for? Well, let's just hope that Ces and the other 2 will return safe. There's a news blockout now here in the Philippines to not media to interfere with the negotiations. Let's just hope that this will be the last.

yeah i heard that May, but only when Ces was already released. it seems im hooked up these days with football. it's quite unfair to kidnap a journalist. isnt press supposed to be neutral? what happened now to that principle? tsk tsk tsk...Pity over our government. you can't point out now who's the enemy or not.
