Why are jokes funny?

Have you asked yourself such a question ever? Most of the people I know don't know the answer and I know only one that doesn't make always sense. If you know or think you know write here what makes jokes funny.

THe funny part in the joke is what makes jokes funny. lol :) well thats what i think :) Maybe others have better responses

well i guess there are different jokes that may appeal to certain people. every body has a sense of humor at least most. and when something is amusing to them, whatever it may be, they will laugh. so a joke is just a formated storyline set up to invoke those "sense of humor" aspects of a person.

Arthur Koestler wrote "The Act of Creation", a very big book on creativity and genius and he considers three kinds of people to be geniuses and proceeds to dissect each one of them, the scientist, the artist and the comedian. He discusses the elements of a joke or humor which he says comes from the collision of two matrices of thought (he also calls them universes of discourse) which are completely divergent or opposite or unrelated. Their sudden meeting or collision causes humor. Consider a serious man walking and a banana peel. Both are unrelated. When they suddenly meet, the result is hilarious.

I am not sure why jokes are funny,but I think they are made that way,to lighten a mood,because it is not good to be serious all the time.

Joke is the term use for funny ideas... Thats why everytime an you laugh at an idea, sentence or speech that is called a joke. Wew!!! Am I joking LOL!!! kinda hard to explain zergo LOL!!!
