Is it true the first saw film is based on a true story? / myLot

Ok since the film was released I've been hearing that its loosley based on a true story so I had a look around the internet and couldn't find anything about it. Has anyone else heard this?

I haven't heard that either, so probably not. But, you never know. People sure are crazy these days. That would make the movie a whole lot scarier though, if it had really happened.

Yea thats what I thought but aparently a guy kidnaped people and toutured them. The whole idea of putting it into a game was probably a way of putting it into a film.

Well true, i love saw series, really terror and highly brutal..cant take my mind of scenes!
