Do You Like Eating A Cherry?

Years ago I saw a movie "The Three Witches of Eastwick".
I enjoyed the movie, except the scene when one of the witch chicks tosses up a bunch of cherries from her stomach.
The image burned a hole in my mind and since then, I can't even look at a cherry, much less eat them!
Do you like eating cherries?
Am I the only one with the cherry horror memory?

I like maraschino cherries, the sweet kind in a jar but can't eat fresh ones. They're sour and icky, although I know many people really love them.

dragon_ Thank you! I was just telling mental that I liked maraschino cherries. And I'm really glad you guys knew how to spell that kind of cherries, so I could copy you.
I always try to figure out words I can't spell because I'm stubborn. Sometimes I lose 10 or 15 minutes trying to spell a word correctly!
Go maraschino!

Hahaha! I had to look it up before I wrote it here! There's an excellent "dictionary/thesaurus" that I use. I keep it on my desktop so it's always handy. They have a "pro" version, but I use the free version. You can get it from http://wordweb.info/free/ if you'd like. Makes life so much easier!

Dragon, I can't stand anything the least bit sour. That's why I love the Ranier cherries... never a sour one in the bunch! I just tried a kumquat for the first time... AND the last time! My husband almost peed himself laughing so hard at me because of the face I made after biting into one. Take the sour of a lemon, multiply it by 10 and add it to an orange... that's what a kumquat tastes like! Blech!!! My jaws must've been locked for an hour! LOL

Wow! Cosmic forces at work once again! I just ate a bunch of cherries... literally!
I'm so glad I didn't see that movie! I love cherries, and go nuts every time the Ranier cherries are available. They are soooo sweet and juicy! I went so nuts about them the first time I had one that I bought a couple of Ranier cherry trees so I wouldn't have to wait for them to come to the grocery stores, or pay the huge price! A quart basket of them is around $8.00 or $9.00!!!
Anyway, yep, love cherries! The sweet ones, anyway. My husband only likes the maraschino cherries, which I find to be too sweet or something... can't quite put my finger on it.
Thanks for the info about that movie! I'll never watch it. LOL

mental_ we sure are getting brought along on the same cosmos wave or something.
Make sure you do something fun while we're connected.
(I make this stuff up, you know, I'm only half serious.)
But, if you meet any cute guys, not for you, you're married. But, you know, if you see one on the street or in the cherry aisle in the grocery store, will you think of me?
I had no idea that's what cherries cost! How long did it take for your Ranier cherry trees to bear fruit?
(I don't know anything about Ranier cherries, sorry)
Funny you should mention maraschino cherries. I like those!
Maybe because they're softer and not so red and I like the sweet taste of them_ that puts me in agreement with your husband I guess.
The witch movie came out years ago, but if you see it come up anywhere, close your eyes!

mental_ you changed your avatar!
Thanks for all the interesting info on cherries. Without you, I never would have known. How empty my world.
Virginia? Okay, good build, six feet or more, non-hairy, no facial hair_
If I pick another guy after settling for all the losers. he's going to be my dream come true, or pretty close, otherwise, I'm spending the rest of my life alone.
Without cherries.

Oh, not all cherries cost that much... just the Ranier cherries. It seems that the trees produce the cherries in an exceptionally short time period, so they are only available for a short time which is probably why they cost so much. Well, that and the fact that these cherries are HUGE compared to most other ones, and much sweeter. I have yet to eat even a slightly sour one.
My trees haven't produced yet. I just planted them last year. I'm hoping to get some cherries by next year, though. This year I'll just have to spring for the money because I simply cannot pass them up!
I'll keep my eyes out for you! There are so many really cute guys here in Virginia! The trouble is, the really nice ones are the shyest ones! There are 3 very distinct groups of men here: you've got your country bumpkins, your hard-working farmer-types and the professionals. This is an agricultural state, so the majority are the hard working farmers. I did just recently meet a really cool veterinarian who treated my sick little baby... about our age-range. I don't know if he's married or not, so I'll have to check him out closer for you when I take my dog in for her shots. *wink*

I enjoy cherries. The lot we built our house on used to be a cherry orchard. We saved 2 of the trees with plans to harvest the pie cherries and save them. I wanted to can some and make fruit leather out of some. But, pitting thsoe chereies was so hard to do!
This year I am going to invite friends to come and pick them and keep them.

Well, first I have to admit, I never saw the movie or I might not like cherries either. And, yes, I have made fruit leather. its like fruit roll ups that you buy in the store. You puree the fruit and then spread it on cookie sheets and leave it in the oven on low. Or, you can put it in a fruit dehydrator.
Now, as to the party. I doubt we will be wearing dresses because we will be working and then swimming in my pool. You would have been welcome in your cute dress, though!

getnbuy_ Yesterday I was confused all day. I was doing pretty good so far today and then I came across your comment. I'm confused all over again.
You were trying to make fruit leather? It's a joke, right?
Oh, please don't let this be an idiot night again!
You're having a cherry picking party. I had just the dress for that occassion. I gave it away last year. It was really cute.

I give up you guys! I surrender. ShepherdSpy, I veer away from the cherry aisle. At least we won't bump into each other.
And you know you'll never have to worry if there's a cherry shortage. I can still be your friend because I won't be trying to buy the cherries.
Sorry, I am so silly tonight. It's nice to talk to all of you. This has been a really crummy day.

I have watched the movie many times and it didn't cause me to have that reaction. Cherries are really a great tasting fruit. Most of the time they are just to costly for me to purchase. I wish they would go on sale regularly.

I love cherries... the red ones and the black ones... but i like the red ones more... i also watched "The Three Witches of Eastwick" and i can still remember that scene about the cherries... but that did not made me more interested in cherries... this type of fruit is not really available in my country... but when i was working abroad... my fridge was never without it...

I loved that movie. And, I never made
the connection between the cherry being eaten
and the fact that the woman was spitting out
cherries. Until now, that is! LOL!
I can see it so vividly in my head. I had no idea.
But I do now and that's all that counts. No, I don't
think that I will have cherries for awhile.
What a clever and creative conversation you've come
up with. I'll have to check out some of your other
discussions, ASAP!

I dont guess I have seen that movie, maybe thats a good thing because I love cherries. I could eat them until they made my stomach hurt!
Every time I go to Sonic and grab a drink, I always get a Cherry Limeade drink and I always ask them to put in some extra cherries :)
