I live to read from the New International Version NIV. Used to like the New American Standard Version when I was younger. I chose these versions by trial and error. When I decided to start reading for a better understanding I went on a hunt for the one that spoke to me the best.

ooops... typo.
I don't 'live' to read the NIV, I like to read it.

My mom used to have a bible (probably still does) that had four versions in one for people who like to compare among them like you say. There were four columns, two on each page. I know that one verson was King James and another was The Living Bible but I don't remember the other two.

lol on the typo. I wouldn't have guessed it was a typo.
I'm kinda doing the trial and error thing right now.
I never really read The Bible much when I was growing up and I have become interested. I have three Bibles I came across them in different ways and I am skipping back and forth between them all, comparing the differences and similarities.

King James Version. They say some of the version have been changed to change the actual meaning.

When I read the Bible I read the King James Version. I guess it's because it's the one my grandmother read and went by.

I have many, many versions of the Bible around the house. My husband is a preacher and my son is a youth minister so we have many versions. My favorite is the New King James version. It is still close to the King James Version but more in my understanding language.

I also used the King James Version often but when I don't understand the language (because KJV is a classic English used) I would cross refer it to the NIV. I also used the NASB, when I have my personal reflections.
Thanks for posting this ! God bless your heart.

I read the King James Version mostly, and I have the literal version on my computer. I grew up with the King James Version and I got used to the Thees and Thous because it showed a respect that one never got by referring to God as you. It also came from the Majority Greek text and that is supposed to be the best Greek translation. I do read the Niv and the RSv on occasion but I still prefer the King James version.

Hi mia,
I have a few different versions of the Bible and I find they all say the same thing. The wording is different, but it says the same thing.
I have the King James Version, NIV, The Living Bible and the New King James Version. I enjoy reading out of any of them and I always find great peace and hope when I read God's Word.
God bless!

Right now I read from the New King James Version. For a long time I was not willing to switch from the King James Version, because it was all that I knew. The NKJV is the same thing, it just makes things so much clearer than the KJV. I greatly appreciate them both.

I have a Nelson Study Bible it is the New King Jame Version. I wanted to go with the King James version because It is the closest to the original language. I love it,it has notes to help me and everything.
