Hi everyone. I had to start this discussion because I really hate house work, I find no pleasure in it at all, I begrudging do it because the maid (lol) quit. Like I could afford a maid Ha. So my poor place gets a lick and a promise, and I assure you more promise than lick. I ask people to not date their names when they visit and write their names in the dust, The dust bunnies are kept to a minimum because I promised to leave them in peace if the didn't make more dust bunnies. I would sooner read a book than clean. I do laundry only when I have run out of cloths. and or my family is going to visit, then I have to clean up, I guess I should be grateful as if they didn't visit I would never clean, and the city would have condemned the place. Love to hear your housekeeping stories. Robin

I am an angry cleaner. LOL I tend to let everything pile up...but once hubby or kiddos REALLY tick me off the house gets clean. It seems to be happening more and more here lately. I like living in a clean house...just hate the cleaning part of it. My kids are 3 and 1 and so they arent great at cleaning up just making the messes. One of these days...I promise! lol

Try housekeeping with 5 kids, a guinea pig, two dogs, two cats, a bird and a husband! LOL...it's impossible. Seriously, I hate cleaning as well. We take the approach of everyone gets a room on Saturday morning, it gets cleaned, mopped, dusted, vacuumed ...the works. The rest of the week, we all clean up as we go along, and it seems to make it easier. But if I could afford a maid? Well, I'd never touch a mop again!

Hi there RantingQueen, Welcome to mylot. :)) Wow what a busy house. The bird alone gives much work to a household. I use to raise cocktiels and I tell ya I will not have even a small parakeet. Dang they make a mess with seeds and feed. But I bet you are one busy lady!

I just don't invite people over to my house. It's a lot less cleanup that way. LOL

I hate housework too!!!I am lucky enough because I'm a boy and live in China. In chinese society, women usually take on all the housework, otherwise, they can not marry off.Of course now the situation has changed, more and more men doing housework now,but men are usually lucky.

Well let me see now. I have been Mr Mom and Bobby Homemaker on and off most my life with my wife. I was the one doing most the housework etc. Now don't get me wrong here. I HATE IT! But I do it none the less. It is a form of relaxation for me from taking care of my dad etc all day long. Until he moved in I would clean maybe once every two or three weeks. Now I find myself doing it a lot, a whole lot, more. Not due to him but for the relaxation and stress relief. I am also constantly picking up and cleaning up after my wife. I am begining to think I have 2 kids living at home again between these two's messes. HAHAHA! J/K. As far as laundry I am doing it daily mostly due to dads little mistakes and messes when he eats etc. So I love the housework. To a point anyhow. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hello RobinJ, if you are working I understand that scenario since it's not easy to maintain the house as well being a full time employee. I am not working so I have plenty of time to clean the house, wipe furnitures everyday, laundry thrice a week, vacuum once a week and all..But, for sure, when I will start working again, other things will be compromise due to schedule!

I sometimes wonder if I lived alone, didn't have any company ever, and housekeeping was at my sole discretion whether I would be as neat as I am now. I have my days and weeks when I do that "lick and a promise" you mentioned then I get this crazy nervous energy and get everything really good. I berate the family for their mess, and then end up cleaning half of it up myself. I may find out in the future what kind of housekeeper I really am. Who knows huh.

lol Robin. I'm sure I hate houskeeping at least as much as you do! My best cleaning is usually done the last hour before my houseguests arrive when I am entertaining. I have a few Holidays where I am obligated to be the host. That's about the only time I do intensive cleaning. The rest of the time, it's pretty much on an "as needed" basis. I have two children, so I have to do laundry regularly. I need to have their school uniform clean for school and my daughters sofball uniforms clean for games. Sometimes I do some organizing and SOMETIMES I find some gratification in that, but not often. I like my house to be clean and orderly, but I hate doing it, and I hate even more when I've gone to the trouble of doing it and then someone comes home and makes a mess out of it! Thanks for the great topic!

There are days, when i also don't want to do anything. I rather be watching TV or here on MYLOT. or to be really honest, I rather be at a casino, having a good time. But I'm not and I have to clean, and I have cook, and Ihave to wash. Robin tell your dust bunnies to stay in one place, that way you don't have to dust them off everything else.

Hi Robin I have a maid to do daily house keeping works and she will also help me in cooking. If she takes leave I have to do all those cleaning and washing which I really don't want to do. Particularly in some days I can not bear with those works and in those days I will postpone some of these jobs for the next day. I like to do cooking and house keeping generally. I hate to do dusting, laundry and cleaning jobs.

I cant stand it. If i'm on a job lifting a wall with the guys or something, or mowing the lawn or something like that, ok sure. but dishes, laundry.... ugh. HATE can be described in housework for me.
