Naming a new kitten

Last month my father found a tiny kitten in his yard. We guessed its age around 3 weeks. Well guess who got the kitten - me. LOL As if I need another. I am one of those people that some would call "the crazy cat lady." No, I'm not a hoarder. I haven't reached that level and don't plan to. And yes, they are all well fed and cared for. But here I am with a kitten I've been calling "Baby" for three weeks, and I just can't seem to come up with a name for him. He is going to be a long haired cat, and it seems he is going to be a small one. He is all black except for one very tiny spot on his chest, which is white. His eyes are a deep gold color. I'm looking for something different in a name, something unique. I could do the usual and name him Midnight like so many other ones out there, but I want something special for this tiny ball of fur. Anyone have any suggestions?

i know someone who found a newborn kitten at the beach. it was just able to squeeze through the bag opening which contained a rock...i'm not even gonna think about it...in a big pile of driftwood and that was his name: driftwood.
did you find him near something in the yard? a tree? a bush?
OMG, what about yard? LOL
Oh, please let us know what name you finally decide on !

Your kitten sounds just beautiful! I am so jealous. I wish it were mine. I want another "baby"! I have 2 cats-4 1/2 years old-Star and Luna. The loves of my life! I have a name to put out there for you. He sounds absolutely goreous. How about Starfire? That's for his gold eyes. My cat Star has amazing green eyes. What do you think? Friend me so we can keep in touch and I can follow his growth. Take good care of the "baby"!

I am sure you have a name for Baby by now but you say he is all black with a white spot on his chest. What about Snowball? Or Rover? I think it is cute when someone has a really big animal and give it a girly name or a tiny animal with a name so huge it weights it down. hahaha What did you end up naming him?

Well.... he ended up named Snoopy, but not by me. I already had 7 cats when the little one showed up. A neighbor of mine recently lost her husband and was telling me how lonely she was, so I offered the kitten to her, and she chose his name. I still miss him (he has been gone from my home two weeks now) but I know he is bringing alot of joy to a very lonely old lady. I told her if anything ever changes and she can't keep him (she is 85 years old) to let me know and I'll take him back.

Othello is a good suggestion as the first poster said. I really like that idea. We are thinking of getting a cat, maybe that would be a good name since I like black cats.
I usually name my animals for the personalities. I called my Peke Lump for days because all he did was sleep and stay by my side. Then he showed a spark of life and my daughter named him Sparky. He apparently needed a rest from the other puppies...lol. My daughter named our Pommie Sassy because she is very vocal and sasses back at you. I have a sugar glider named Missy because I caught myself saying "listen here little Missy" quite a lot to her..lol. Her mate is Moose because he is huge as far as gliders go. His last son was named Deci because he barked and cried so much he raised the decibels in the house..lol. His latest joey is called Joey for now because he is too young to do anything to name him for. We have a rat named Dinner because my mother found out it was to be fed to a snake and freaked out so we had to take it in.

Thanks for your reply Vic. Boy you sure have some unusual pets don't you? I also try to name them unusual names. I have a cat named Fraggle, because her whiskers are long like those characters on the old puppet show Fraggle Rock. I have a cat named Skeeter just because my mom liked it and thought he was terribly tiny. Funny thing is ne now weighs over 20 lbs and is quite the fat cat.

Those names are pretty good.
Usually in my house with all of our animals, we name them something and then call them something completely diffrent.
Most recently i got a one year old cat from one of my grandmother's friends because she was going to put it to sleep and i jumped in. Its name is pogie, but it is now called Puggy or plucky. Maybe name it schnogglykins? =P

LOL Thanks for the response. But with that last name I'd never be able to say it. And with the number of pets I have, I can't do anything too long or hard to pronounce. I think we have actually settled on Piper. I know, its typically a girls name but it suits this tiny kitten.

Thanks for your reply. To be honest I don't know much about Shakespeare. Guess I'm not that well read. LOL But I do like Othello. I'll see what my guy thinks. He probably won't care. He is NOT a cat person, and frequently just calls them all "cat."
