I was adding to my interest icons today at MyLot, when I came across this book 'Tuesday with Morris'. And I remember the intense emotions I felt then. I finished the book within 2-3 hours or so (it was rather short). It moved me to tears...by the end of the book, I couldn't stop crying - I've never cried at all, watching movies or reading books. It frightened me that just a book could move me so deeply - the story of a man who knew that he was dying, but yet aimed to live out the rest of his days with such dignity and meaning. One of my favourite quotes - "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live".
Have any of you read this book? Tell me how you feel.

Hi! I do love that story. I havent read the book though. I just got to watch it in the Hallmark channel. I didnt cry when I watched the movie but it did inspire me somehow and there was a bit of tugging on my heartstrings but I didnt cry. Thats what I love about books. It moves us to tears and its kinda like reading someone's personal diary that contains the depths of their very thoughts and emotions. There was a lot of good quotes there and a lot of sayings that would really make the reader think and reflect on his own life. There was one book that made me cry too. I dont cry at all but this book made me tear up. It was "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" by James Patterson. A really good book that Id love to read over and over again but Im really not that comfortable crying. I dont have that many tears but Im glad that a good book has made me tear up just because of the sincerity of the story. Id recommend it to anyone.

I have not heard of this book, so I just did an internet search and I found this quotation from it:
"So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half asleep, even when they are busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning."
There are many other quotes from the book on the Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuesdays_with_Morrie
Thank you for posting about this book, I shall look further into it. I see there are two more books by the same author, one of which I have heard of.
