I'm considering joining and would like to get a good outlook of whether they are legit, and if so what exactly do you do, and how much can you make?

I joined UTest recently, and yes it is legit. Basically, you test web-based software and applications for bugs. You make around $5 - $13 per bug that's accepted. It's definately worth checking out, and theres always new releases to test.
