Above a Sheffield pub locked away in a beetle-infested bedroom was a 3 year old girl was left to starve to death. She was "unloved and unwanted" a court heard!
Tiffany Hirst was abandoned in her locked room for a possible of two days before she died.
She was found by paramedics in her bed in a room above the pub, her body was covered in bites. Tiffany weighed less than a child of a 2 years old when found, died of pneumonia after becoming weak sue to repeated and severe malnourishment.
Senior detective Det Ch Insp Steve Williams said "We have heard Tiffany would be seen staring out of her bedroom window and this was probably the little girl's cry for help but nobody realised - it is heartbreaking."
The Hirsts were in the habit of leaving children locked upstairs for more than 12 months before Tiffany's death.
Tiffany lived in quarters above the pub, which were described by the judge as "filthy and dangerous", with her mother, Sabrina Hirst, 22, and stepfather Robert Hirst, 54.
The pair were initially accused of murder but the charges were reduced to manslaughter and neglect for Mrs Hirst and neglect for Mr Hirst. The couple pleaded guilty to the charges and are expected to receive lengthy jail terms when sentenced at a later date.
It is shocking that they were aware that these two adults regularly left there children abandoned, but not thing was done!! What would you have done if you had seen the little girl at the window???

this is quite obscene and is why i have started a discussion relating to shouldnt we have tests before we are allowed to have children?

It is easy for me to say that had I seen the child, I would have called authorities. But honestly, how was anybody to know that the child was neglected and alone. It is very hard to say what could have saved her. Did the pub owners know? Did anybody know? Had I known that this was happening, I would break in and take the child. I doubt her parents would have cared. What is going through somebodies mind when they leave a three year old? This story disgusts and disturbs me.

This is horrible, it is very sad that some parent really do not care for their children, and there are some people who really want children and can't have any.
I don't know that anyone could of prevented this though because most people are not going to know that a child is starving when they see the child from a distance such as looking out a window,
I don't believe the charges should be dropped or changed though because no one should ever leave a three year old child alone anywhere because it is highly likely that that child would get hurt or killed, that is just not a very good idea. at all in my opinion.

Thats horriable. Some people just dont deserve children. What relly annoys me is there are people desperate for children out there who try and try for years and cant have children, and then there are people like them two who get pregant at the drop of a hat and dont look after there children. It really really gets my blood boiling!
