Why do some people create harmful programs to destroy your computer?

Here I am at 3:00pm and just had my anti-virus warn me about a Trojan Virus. I can't seem to understand why someone would really spend their time trying to attack me when I don't even know these people and I have never done any wrong to them.
Have you ever used Limewire or some other file sharing program and searched for something and what you got back was a ton of results that were ONLY viruses? Who are these people doing this?
Some people say it's kids doing it for kicks. Others say that it is actually the anti-virus companies doing it to get your business. I am not sure, I don't want to make any accusations but simply put, It's Wrong!
Will we ever see and end to these types of programs being issued? Probably not, but can someone please explain why programmers and hackers are doing this?

It's basically simple....they create virus for money!. The people behind the viruses are also the one's who make Anti-Virus..The more virus, the more anti-virus will emerged in the market..

Hi,
The persons who creates these viruses are creating the viruses to make their business as you might have observed that as soon as you will get alerts, at the same time you will get the alert saying that download and install WinAntiSpywares to remove these viruses and they also provides you the information about the ratio of the viruses or trojans. So to not get affected by the viruses you should use a good antivirus softwares like NOD32 or Kaspersky that is what i recommend and that is what i use on my laptop and its been almost about 3-4 years i had never ever been infected by the viruses attacks, even if i will see any kind of things of my laptop.
Bye.

Well yes, I feel that something has to be done about this myself. I wonder the same thing as well. It makes no sense at all to see this. Destroying someone's computer is mean and unjust. There are just ignorant people whom have nothing better else to do but just to get into your system and corrupt it. We just have to be on guard at all times.

yeah. I actually did get a nasty virus from an anti-virus provider that took a long tme to get rid of. It was stinking commercial that kept telling me over and over that I had a virus and everytime I tried to access the internet, instead of going to my home page, it would open up the anti-virus spftware web site. That was so messed up.
As for other kinds, some virus are meant to track what your computer does, and other are flat out malicious.
