Is the coming of the Mahdi near?

I often wonder of the coming of the Mahdi is near considering all of the major events of todays world. Is it possible that he will come in our lifetime?

It is possible, but we can't say when. A great Muslim scholar has predicted that the end of the World would happen sometime after 2800. ( I can't recall the exact date ). This figure was based on facts from hadith and I think also Quran. But the author also said that that was his estimate and only Allah knows the exact time.

Do you think it will be another great depression? The Great Depression happened in 1929, do you think that this is possible in their will be great famine?

Actually theres a lot that has been said about the end times. From memory I don't think it will be a great depression but the opposite. Poverty will disappear, and people will be enjoying life(I'm not sure if this is after the appearance of Jesus(PBUH) or before, u should be able to find out easily on the net if you go to the right sites).
But there will be massive natural disasters happening all over the world (floods and earthquakes, etc) but again I'm not sure in which order it will all happen. Better to do some research. I have a book written by another great scholar just about the end times. I'll give u some info later if i find it. At the moment I'm busy with exams.
