Idiot Co-Workers And How To Deal With Them

How do deal with a co-worker you can't stand with one single fiber of your being? I have a co-worker who I just absolutely cannot stand one bit. He's so annoying and will annoy you just for the sole purpose of annoying you. For example, if you let him know that something bothers you, then he'll make sure to do it more just to bother you. This is a trait in a person that I just cannot tolerate. I've tried the whole "silent treatment". I refuse to talk to him at all because anything I have to say about or to him is NOT at all nice. Oh! And just today, he was standing either just in or out of my cubicle and leaned over to read what I was typing. I haven't even begun to list everything that's annoying about him, but I think you probably get the idea. Do you suppose I can report him for harassment? What do you think? And has there ever been such a co-worker for you?

Hi Poison_Girl, maybe you need to reprimand him that the moment he will bother you again, you will be reporting him to your boss for some disciplinary action and you really mean it. I have not experienced a co-worker like that, I had before but she loves complaining a lot about life, people, administration and all, I will just avoid talking to her!

Well, I suppose it's a little late now. When I went back in on the following Monday (June 16th) after I contacted a couple people, I was notified that it would be my last day and his last day would be the following Friday (June 20th). I suppose my "supervisor" didn't like me going "over her head" or "behind her back" or whatever, so she fired me. Was broke when that happened and I still haven't found another job, so... keeping my fingers crossed that something will come up SOON. *sigh*

Annoy him back, of course he might actually enjoy this, but at least you'll feel better.

I have never had that problem as I worked with all
women and we all gotalong so well. Is this jerk
bing sexually harrassing or just plain being an
idiot? It depends on just what heis doing to report
him for harrassing you. I have never been in quite
that situation myself. However I did work under the
second in command for two months in which that lady
bi**h made sure I got fired and I had no way of fighting
her either.shewas very underhanded and worked on my
supervisor until my super finally told me she did not'want
to lay me off but had too without any explanation as to why.

Do you not suddenly feel a muscle spasm coming on when he does that breathing down your neck thing? I mean, heck, a nice elbow - by accident of course! - in the stomach will certainly get him out of your way. It's not likely you can report him for harassment unless you can find people who are willing to say they witnessed it. That could turn very nasty and probably not to your advantage at all. If it's a co-worker and other people are around then I'd ask him - in a rather loud voice - why he isn't at his own desk and why he thinks he needs to waste time peering at you. Put on the spot like that on a regular basis will possibly get through to him. Also other people will be hearing that. Eventually, at some point, the boss will hear about it. Then is when you will be asked what it is about. It is at that point in time that you can point out to your boss that this moron is really bugging you and keeping you from doing your work. If lucky he'll get a reprimand or, even better, get fired. And that's when you end up victorious.
But if you aren't willing to go that route then the next best alternative is to start looking for another job because in the end this guy aint going nowhere and you'll need to accept this idiotic behaviour whether you like it or not.

I can say something out loud in front of people all I want, but it won't stop him. He has this issue with letting people have their privacy. Just the other day (Friday the 13th... HA) we learned that he's been looking up information on all of us. Things like traffic violations, court things, and what-not. Like a background check. Then he and another co-worker were looking people up right there during working hours! That was enough to really freak me out, so I contacted a couple people and then the two of them were pulled away for a moment. I'm not sure what all happened, but whatever it was wasn't enough for me. I suppose we'll find out on Monday what REALLY is going to happen and go from there.
