The way I look at it is that confidence is the state of not being afraid of failure. Failure is common and someone who is confidant will accept failure as part of the path to success. If one thing doesn't work try another and try new things in order to get to where you want to be.
Personally sometimes I am confident and sometimes I am not. I don't mind trying new things, in fact I like to try new things because it challenges me and helps me mature. Even so sometimes I am afraid to try new things, but when I do I learn things about myself, some I probably tried to avoid. But the first step in changing is knowing what one wants to change.
Just my two cents

You are in the right path now that you realized you need to change for the better. Failure are part of life and if you do not experience that you will never learn how to be tough and strong in this life. Just accept when challenge and avoid the feeling of being afraid. I know it cannot be avoided totally but conquering it is possible. Sometimes our success are totally dependent on how much we failed and learned from it.

If you learn a lesson from a supposed failure than you're not really failing. The bes thing to do is just "get over it" (release it) and get on with life. It's scary, but it's worse to let fear hold you back.

I fear failure. But I still want to try those new things, we can't stop doing thing to avoid failure. If we don't try we will failed, if we try, we still have chance to suceed. So why not try, why not doing things. I lack confidence when I was failed, and will be despress for several day, but sure will be recovered. So, now I still try and try, failed and failed, wish I will succeed soon. And wish you have courage to try new things.

I'm am very afraid of failure. It keeps me from doing almost everything. I don't have my drivers licence because I'm afraid to be on the road with the other cars and not drive well. I'm afraid to get married because I might be a bad wife. I hope I can change too.

Is it any correlation between fear of failure and failure itself? It is true that what you are afraid not only escape or chance? Yes, I 'afraid of failure ... I'm at a crossroads, where to go, which direction is the end which has a light failure and how small? Even if the tunnel is long and pitch black around me, I'm not afraid of it, but what is the end of the tunnel ...
Another thing that I think about is how some people have everything or almost everything without any effort. There are very few people who really are in this category, ie, at least those known to me are people who are absorbed by the power of money, consider that all are entitled to and you should not do anything for what they receive or will receive. Most stupid are people who will not achieve anything on his own life and that is unlikely to realize how dry it was their life. However, we all respect for those resources, even unrealized them, but know how to use the benefit of those around them, which leaves a "was" on the ground and are able to do something on their own, fail to capitalize on what they have and give more of their more or less.
Expect when you see the candle, light or lamp at the end of my tunnel ...

Yes i too am scared of failure and sometimes i do not venture out on something new afraid that i may fail. But if i manage to do something overcoming my fear and it is a success i feel awfully happy.
So we should not worry about losing participation is more important.
