I'm currently caught in a tough spot and need some advise. I'm about ready to take my G.E.D test and get school over with, But would I limit myself on how far I can go in life without a High School Diploma?
Do you have your G.E.D or High school Diploma?
If a G.E.D graduate, Have you run into any problems with employers?

I heard that some places treat both equally, and some places treat the high school diploma better than the G.E.D. My grandmother works at a place that treats it equally, as a telemarketer. She has neither, though. It definitely depends on where you are going to work, but usually employers would rather see the High School Diploma. But, I still respect you for going for the G.E.D., and I wish you good luck on the test, and hope that future employers will not hassle you about it.

I have my high-school diploma but my problems finding employment are because employees really don't want to hire blind people.

I don't know if this would be something you're interested in at all, but one of my friends works in a photo lab and said they love to hire blind people because blind people are their best workers. Maybe there is something similar near you?
She was telling me that in black and white photography, you have some light to work by so she can do that. In color photography, everything is black and sighted people have a very hard time working in that environment and they tend to be very clumsy. But the blind employees are perfect in that situation.
It's one of the few jobs I've heard of where it is obvious why employers would prefer blind employees. But in any case, I wish you the best of luck in finding something.

I have a high school diploma. Where I work they look down on the G.E.D. because math skills are required and they tend to be better if you've actually taken the high school courses rather than just studied for a test.
But there are definitely jobs that take either one. And some jobs require tests when you get there as well, and you definitely have excellent language skills which is rather uncommon nowadays. So that should be a huge plus for you.
When I was in high school I wanted to just take my G.E.D. and be done with the place, but I guess it was better in the end to stay.

I ran into the same problem a few years ago. From an employer's point of view a GED is not as good as a Diploma. If you and another person are applying for the same job and the other has a High School Diploma and you have a G.E.D they are more likely to consider the other applicant first. When I told my mom that I was going to be getting a G.E.D she said why settle for a Good Enough Diploma when I could have the real deal. I went online and researched some of the online diplomas and I have a real High School Diploma now.

I have my GED. I moved out on my own when I was sixteen and got mine. I would have preferred a regular diploma because I know some employers look down on GEDs, but I had to do what I had to do. I never ran into problems with employers, but I was very lucky. I did the normal kids jobs (MacDonald's, restaurants)until I was 18 and then I got a job in retail. From there I got a job at a local factory and worked there for 10 years before I became disabled.
My advice would be to try to get a regular diploma. A GED is good if you have no other option, but a high school diploma lets you highlight good grades, achievements, etc. It is also better if you want to go back to school later. I have also heard other people say they have had problems finding jobs. Good luck whatever you do.
