I am curious to know what others do to save money on a daily basis. I cut a TON of coupons and do all the rebates possible ( while using coupons so I make money on the products)I am a new stay at home mom, so I am trying to make a lot less money go a lot further.....

i also use coupons. i look for the items that are on sale, and i think of what things are really needed and what are not necessary to buy.

Some good suggestions so far. Here are a few that I use: I grow as much of my own vegetables and make all of my jams and jellies, and canning (tomatoes, salsa, spaghetti sauce, pickles, etc.) that I can. Yes, it is a lot of work but it tastes better, it is cheaper, and it is healthier (I can actually pronounce all of the ingredients that go in them). Most grocery stores around here put discount coupons on the meats that are nearing their allowed time on the shelf. This saves about half the cost. I have a large freezer at home so I can freeze some of the meat if I get lots of something I know the family really likes. I buy cereals and other things that are for a really good sale price in bulk. For example, the largest box of Corn Flakes for $2 when it is regularly over $4. Most of these keep for a very long time if stored properly. I take my own lunches to work, all from home grown or home made stuff. I do my own baking and again make lots when 'tis the season and freeze as much as possible. We eat apple pie all year, have zucchini bread all year and enjoy cinnamon buns for weeks after I make a batch. Wash you dishes in a sink instead of the dishwasher. Saves on water and electricity. Set your airconditioning at 25 instead of 22 or lower (these temperatures are Celsius - I am Canadian). It is hte humidity in the air that you really want to get rid of to make things more comfortable. Open the window of your car when driving short distances. Running air conditioner uses a lot of energy and therefore you consume more fuel. Besides, it doesn't have enough noticeable effect on short drives and it si not really ehalthy to be in and out of airconditioning into hot temperatures. Just a few more ideas. When we really think about it, we can come up with many more.

I try to save money in every way I can. With the soaring prices of all the necessities these days, you can't help but feel the burden of the economy. Little ways of saving in everyday activities could count a lot once put together. Example, saving electricity in small ways, such as turning off unneeded appliances, could save you money at the end of the month when you receive your bill. Or when you walk to a near store to purchase something instead of using the car. You save gas plus you get your chance for the physical activity that the body needs. These are just some of the ways that I save to get that extra money. I know some of the people here have done the same or are doing more.
