For those who have been following my story about my injured animals, Eddie my dog has just come out of surgery and I got a call from the surgeon saying that everything went well. He had his hip surgically put back into place but there is still a small chance that it can come out again.
He needs complete cage rest for two whole weeks so absolutely no walking until then! It will be so hard to see him locked up for that long but it has to happen for his hip to have the best chance at staying in place.
I love him so much and just want to cuddle him but I won't be able to see him until tomorrow. Fortunately he would be so sedated on pain killers that he won't care

I wish Eddie a speedy recovery.
My brothers dog that has been living with us had hip surgery a few months ago. His hip had gotten pulled out of socket when he got into a fight with another dog. My brother was supposed to take him to the vet, but he never came and took him and by the time I took him it had been too long and the hip bone started to fuse in the wrong spot. The vet said it would have had to get popped back in within a day or two to not need surgery. They had to cut his bone and put it back in place. He was given light duty for a few weeks, but he was up and around again before long.

Yeah there are a couple of different ways they can fix it. Has his hip stayed in since?

I'm glad everything went well for Eddie's surgery, and that his hip is back in place; now he has to keep quiet and no walking. It's going to be hard for you keeping him in a cage for two weeks, but for his long-term prospects, you are going to have to bear with it. It's for his own good.
Just keep telling yourself that he will make a full recovery and his hip will have the time it needs to heal - as long as you keep him contained. We put our own feelings onto our pets (which is hard not to do, I do it myself), but they don't think like us. He will accept being in the cage if you do. Good luck.

Awwwwwwww..glad to hear Eddie came out of his surgery ok. Keeping him in the cage for 2wks is going to be harder on you than him..trust me on this. lol I had to keep one of my over-active Labs in a crate for a week and, needless to say, the crate was history in the 2nd day and had to get a new one. Went through 3 crates in a week. ugh! Hope you keep Eddie tied up or behind a fence so this doesn't happen again.

Yeah, it definitely won't happen again. He won't be tied up but the gate will always be shut.

That is great to hear about your dog. I am sorry that it took surgery to help him to get well but I am also glad that everything is okay for him now. My dog used to have to wear a sling for a couple of weeks and walk around on three legs. We had to help him go out to potty and back in. He couldn't make it up and down the steps. I hope you can see him and at least stroke his hair. I wish you the best.

I am very glad to hear he pulled through the surgery just fine and it went well. I hope he makes a speedy and complete recovery. You must be so relieved that he came through ok and is going to be just fine.
