Myself and I know others are hurting over the constant rise in gas prices. I live in Kansas City, MO and the gas prices averages $3.96/ gallon. Driving a 6 cylinder takes $85.00 to fill my tank once a week. If you times that by four weeks it is $340.00 a month. That is more than my car
payment. So a neighbor sat down with me to strategical come up with a plan to make it from week to week. So for one I cut cost on groceries; saved 125.00 a month, cut back on going out to movies and take out dinners; cut $100 a month. The biggest savings was on my Auto & Home Insurance I searched around to get a cheaper quote and found a company that saved me $950.00 a year. WOW!!!!! So now I am doing a little better as long as gas prices don't go up to much higher. I helped 20 of my family and friends cut back in other areas and also there auto/home insurance and they got the same results. Needless to say they are all much relieved. So If you can help someone; how long would it take?

I think we all have ways we cope that can be shared with others. For me, it is going to the library to rent books instead of buying them. To me, that is a cutback.
I probably only use 100.00 a month on gas but live very frugally. I am a member of a local freecycle group and encourage others to join one. It saves the landfills and helps others at the same time.
Living green helps the environment and the pocketbook. Growing vegetables would be hard in a city but in a more rural area, it is great. A local organization rented out spaces to people with no land to farm on this year.
Utility bills will be high too so that is another area to look at. What about your interest rates on any loans or credit cards? Can you renegotiate?
Just a few ideas.
