The New York Yankees beat the Oakland A's 4 to 1 tonight in Oakland. Hideki Matsui hit a grand slam to give the Yankees their four runs. Andy Pettitte picks up the win in a strong pitching performance. Mariano Rivera pitched the ninth for the save. Unfortunately, the Yankees gain no ground on Boston as they beat the Orioles earlier in the day.
