Fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskevidekatriaphobia. It did not become popular until the 19th century. Prior to that people had triskaidekaphobia, a fear of the number 13. Depending on who you believe the superstition is based on the Last Supper having 13 at the table and Friday is considered bad luck because Christ was crucified on Friday. Other sources cite King Philip IV as the reason. He had the Templar Knights arrested on Friday the 13th in 1307 and proceeded to put an end to the organization. However the superstition has only been around since the 19th century.
As for me, I have no issues with it I had a niece born on Friday the 13th. I've never noticed any bad luck for myself on that day, but I am not superstitious.
