I have no idea as to the title of the first book I "owned." I am the the daughter and niece of several teachers, and there have always been many books in my home. The first book I remember was a Richard and Jane book (the mylot system will not allow me to enter the nickname for Richard, which was the real name in the title). I was 3 or 4, and my mother was teaching me to read. When I could not consistently recognize a particular word, she sent me to the closet for my father's belt. Yes, I got a "whoopin'" for this lack of concentration. (What can I say? It was a different time.) Anyway, despite this beginning, I own and love hundreds of books. One can never have too many book or too much money.

i envy you for that.. i love reading also but what hinders me is that i dont actually own the books i love to read.. most of them are my friends' and i am shy to borrow them for a long time.. if i do that i always end up not finishing the whole book.. other books are from our school's library and we are only allowed to borrow it for 3 days, so i ahve no choice but to return it without actually finishing reading it..

Let it be known that your love books, and that you would like to receive either books or gift cards to bookstores as gifts for your birthday and other events. Use your earnings from MyLot to buy books, and be sure to search the Net for bargain prices. Also, keep in mind that most public libraries have periodic sales of books where books are almost given aways--25 or 50 cents for a soft cover, $1 or $2 for hard covers. Start building your library now. You will never regret it.

Hi baebie, when I was a little girl I was very fond of listening to fairy tales told by my parents and teachers. Ever since I knew how to read I started to develop keen interest in reading story books. I still could remember my first book was Fables from Aesop. There were so many attractive and meaningful fables which could really attract children’s attention. Among these, The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf” was the most popular and educational.

hello there! wow just like m, my first book were also like that, about fairy tales and everything that makes our imagination rich.. i think those kinds of books help us make us creative and vivid about things.. yeah maybe that's why those who love books knows more about life compared to those who just ignores books..

Wow, I don't think I really have any idea. I believe the very first books I can remember dating back to the beginning of my life that I especially loved were books such as "Goodnight Moon" and "Runaway Bunny." I also had a pretty big collection of those Little Golden Books.

It was Ten Apples Up ON Top by Dr. Seuss. I remember getting it in the mail. It was so exciting. I also had other little story books when i was a child. The little red hen etc. I was always interested in books and reading.

First book I owned? That'd have to be a copy of The Hobbit, which is now in terrible shape. It's either that, Dr. Seuss, or these collections of stories that my school library sold when they remodeled.
