Education is supposed to inculcate moral values and to create individuals who are independent, useful, reliable, resourceful, talented and creative. To what extent does education today satisfy the individual needs and social obligations?

I believe that primary (K through 12) education is the foundation for creating a person who can be independent, useful, reliable, resourceful, talented and creative but I also believe that additional education and/or training is necessary in this day and age. I don't think high school prepares students for adult social interaction or for working as part of a team but I did find, through my own secondary educational experiences, that college forces that upon you and so you learn important social lessons there.

This aspect of Primary education should not discontinue but what I find in children today is all that they learn and have learned are confined to the books. Very few apply or can apply their academic knowledge to real life situations. Even adults need some form of a leader to show them the way or encourage them to take the proper steps in dealing with life's situations.

i agree that education is the program that will form the individuals in order to become better persons in the society and to become competitive individuals in going to the modernization of the world. As for now, I do believe that education today still satisfy the need and social obligations by teaching the younger generations the modern aspects such as technologies and other new techniques that will develop the system of the world.

Modern aspects such as technologies and other new techniques that develop the systems of the world and their applications alone is not education as a whole. Education includes preparing the individual for life. Preparing the individual for life is not just through knowledge centered on the Sciences, there is more to it, is what I feel. Today children have no regard for others around them. Moral values are really lacking and respect for life around including animals and plants is ebbing. What has gone wrong?

Education is indeed a way for us to inculcate moral values to the youth of today. But then, the responsibility does not only lie on the shoulders of the teachers. We have to remember that the home is the first community that the child interacts with and it is the family's responsibility to educate the child as well. Teachers in schools can only do so much.

Yes, I agree that parents and others around also cater to the needs of individuals and society. But are they, if so how much?
