Does art make a difference?

Does art make a difference to the world? Does it help make it a better place apart from making it aesthetically more beautiful? Did the most important war statement by Picasso persuaded someone to turn from the path of war? Here I am talking about painting and sculpture. It is an important reflection of our society, culture, but does it also change it somehow? Do you mylotters have any examples?

I don't think that art has the ability to make the *entire* world a better place, but it definitely can make a difference in the life of people it inspires.
