Nursery Decor!

I'm almost six months pregnant and have just begun decorating baby's room. It's so exciting to see her room with her crib and change table in it. The only problem now is that I can't decide what type of decor should go on the walls. I don't want to decorate it too baby-ish (so, no teddy bears, Disney Princesses, ducks, baby bottles, etc..etc..). I was thinking I'd like to put stencils of sorts on the wall but I'm not too sure what kind! Any tips would be appreciated! If you have pictures of your baby's nursery, feel free to share them. =] http://i27.tinypic.com/28qxc8l.jpg http://i28.tinypic.com/2w7ib69.jpg Those are the two pictures I have of her room so far, just to give you an idea of what color the walls are.

I would say something pretty like flowers or butterflies pastel colours pale pink lilac mint green and pale blue would all look lovely on that colour yellow but wont look too babyish but also wont look too grown up for her. Good luck! xxxx

The Disney Princesses would actually be appreciated until they are about ten, lol. Anyhow, more neutral and still girlish would be something like flowers, birds, and especially butterflies.

I think perhaps you're under-estimating how long kids like characters for - i wouldn't got with baby bottles, ducks or anything like that but little girl's like the princess's & stuff until they're a decent age. We did the nursery in Pooh - the top 2/3 of the walls are blue, the bottom 3rd is green & we have wall stickers which are re-useable. I know my 5 year old niece would kill to have my daughter's bedroom (she's only just gone 2) - it's got 4 different coloured walls with 4 different characters - Pooh, Nemo, Princess's & Tinkerbell + her friends! Oh, Teddy bears will last forever too - as long as they're nice ones & not the little ones running around in diapers & stuff like that! I haven't got a pic i can add in here but honestly - there's a big difference between baby-ish & little girls - ducks & bottles are for babies, then the other characters are more for children which will last a lot longer :) Also, if you buy re-useable stickers, you can always pull them down if she outgrows that character, re-sell them & then put up another later later down the track! Good Luck!

Hey there, It's not that I think my child will grow out of the characters, I would just prefer decor that isn't obviously for a child. I've seen some pretty modern/sophisticated nurseries that are decorated without the aid of Disney Princesses or Dora the Explorer and they look so nice, so that was kind of what I was wanting to do. Maybe some type of stencil design on the way, as opposed to decorations with princesses or something. *shrug* I'm not too sure anymore haha. Thanks for the response though!

There are other removable stickers that you can use - without the aid of Disney or anything like that. You could do something like a Jungle theme - not too over the top of course & would go well with the yellow but you can use stencils or removeable stickers with vine shapes, trees, normal zoo animals, perhaps you could just go with a plain border through the middle with birds at the top :) I guess it depends on what sort of things you like! You can do ANYTHING, just pick a theme or colour or anything you like & then go to a baby store etc then check out the designs they have. Also, try eBay i have looked on there & bought heaps from there. You'll find heaps of different ideas on there & might find something that just pops out at you. Good Luck!
