I Cant Swim.

United States
June 13, 2008 12:18pm CST
Ok I can swim just not yet. My hubby and oldest son stayed up late last night getting our pool liner all set up. It has been filled with water but oh it is cold water. I am getting impatient I want to swim now. But id probly put the baby into shock if I hoped in now. Its supposed to get real hot humid tomarrow so it may warm the water up a bit I hope. So anyone else got a pool in their yard or do you have a place you like to go for swimming?

I like swimming too much.My house is near the sea & so I can swim in the sea. I don't like pools. Perhaps if my house wasn't nearby the sea;Iwould like pools. But the area which my house is staying on is the most beautiful & rare zero points of the world. If you come to Turkey;I'll be glad to lodge you & your suns

We have had our own swimming pool for about 6 years, I believe. I have lost track of the exact time we got it. I would have to look that up. We filled ours up in April and we have had some really hot and humid days here also. The heat and humidity will warm the water up quickly. The temperature goes down in it at night and back up in the daylight hours. It was 84 degrees in there the other day and it felt really nice. Eithy-sic degrees is even nicer.

I used to go to my sisters and swim but they sold the house with the pool....so now I go when ever I can to whom ever invites me to join them. I am not much on lake swimming anymore....don't like the bugs. On vacation we went to a friend of my daughters house and swam in their pool....they cover it with a cover to get it to warm up so if it's still cool maybe a tarp over it will absorb the sunshine and warm it up.

The bugs the debris the nasty water yeah I dont go to the lakes anymore either not many good ones left. Seems there are too many issues every year with disease at the beaches. Yeah we got a tarp over it all the time when not in use. Also keeps the leaves and stuff out.

Well living in the UK it is not really the place to have a swimming pool. Well not unless you are rich and can afford an indoor one. But hey we do have blow up ones! And actually some of them are pretty big and not a bad price either so we have a medium one of those. We have had it out once or twice, but well, the typical english weather has been back again this week and it was that cold today I had two jumpers on.

Pools are expensive. We actually got ours from a neighbor for $20.00 it is an above ground but it is plenty big. 15 feet around and about 4 feet deep.

I hope you get to go swimming soon, maybe the water will warm up and you can. I don't have a pool in my yard, wished I did, it gets so hot here, and I don't like having to go to the pool in town, theres always too many ppl there. People here like to go to the creek, its a natural spring fed creek and it is ice cold, I mean it will make your toes turn blue. I've gotten cramps in my feet from being in that water, but its a popular place during the summer. Theres a park there, and you can have a cookout and camp or whatever you want to do, and go swimming whenever you want to...

I have a niece that lives about a mile away which will let me use her pool any time that I want. As hot as it is getting now, I may just be visiting her a little more often. lol

I would really like to go to the lake, but hubby and I work mostly opposite shifts, so it is hard to get to any place. I am hoping for a change in that situation before summer is over. I do get to go swimming with my clients at the adult disabled community. We go to the water park, and that is fun as well.

We have a small one just for the kids which they have somehow outgrown a bit(they do grow fast) that when they stretch out they could touch both sides, but you could clearly see how much they enjoy it every time. Lucky for me they haven't thought of asking for a bigger one, I haven't though of a good reason or an excuse.)

I know they grow way to fast. Youre lucky they havent asked for a bigger one yet but they will soon im sure. Mines big enough that when they start asking for a new one I can say get a job and get it yourself.

I usually just go to the YMCA. They have wonderful facilities. After a good swim, I like to use their sauna and steam room. When I'm not at the YMCA, sometimes I'll go to a local reservoir or a beach in Long Island.

We don't have a pool at our home we go to the YMCA to go swimming or we will go to the local pool. I like going to the Y as it is an indoor pool and you don't have to worry about sunscreen then but when it is hot outside then it feels good to jump into a nice cold pool.

I don't have a pool in the yard and I just hoped I can so that I can practise the swimming there. I barely swim well. When I was younger, my parents were too busy to teach swimming. And for safety sake, they didn't allow me to go to the pool myself. Then I just missed the best time to learn and now it's much more difficult. I often go the public pool in our town. Hopefully, I can swim well after this summer.

Good luck swimming can be alot of fun. My pools used more for relaxing but it does have a waterslide that my kids love. Its not deep enough for me to worry too much about my kids right now.

The ocean! Does that count. Mostly I'm scared to let my kid go into the ocean at the beach cause of the under tow. Usually takes down a tourist each season. Don't want my kid being a statistic. We might get her a baby pool but we're really careful about the deep water. Too many accidents. But I'm sure it's great for older kids.

My uncle has a pool. So does one of my best friends. We are just waiting for the go ahead. With the awful storms we have had here in the past few weeks the pools were not a priority. I am only 13 weeks along in my pregnancy. Don't think baby will notice much. Enjoy your pool time.
