I've been writing in another post and we got off-topic and started talking about our gardens. I'm curious to see how many people are happy with what they have, or have beautiful dreams of the perfect garden. I practically live in mine. Working in the soil gives me peace, strength, harmony, and wonderful dreams. Anyone have one they'd like to share? I would love to hear about it.

Sadly I don't have a garden or anywhere I could put one even. If I could manage it I would like one of those Japanese rock gardens with a few bonsais.

I picked my first ripe tomato the other day. It was a cherry tomato and was soooo sweet and delicious. So far, I have the cherry tomato plant, two "regular" tomato plants, a bell pepper plant, and a jalapeno pepper plant. I want to plant more, but I either don't have the time, or the weather isn't cooperating when I do have the time. I'd love to have some pumpkins, some squashes, and some cucumbers, but it might be too late for all those. Someday, however, I think I'll have a greenhouse, so I can grow veggies all year.

You sound like me! I want a greenhouse so badly! We were supposed to build a new deck with a sunroom off of our diningroom so I could grow things year-round, but then my husband's back started acting up, and he's going to need surgery. So, the sunroom has to wait. *pout* I was thinking of building a greenhouse, not too big, just enough to grow some "salad-type" veggies year-round. They are easy to heat in the winter, too. Using "bubble-wrap" taped inside the glass, it helps to retain the heat inside the greenhouse. I have so many ideas! I just need some muscles and a strong back. LOL You are SO lucky to have already picked (and eaten!) a tomato so early in the season. I'm still waiting. Like you, the weather sure hasn't cooperated this year. Here, it's either been way too hot, or raining cats and dogs! I have found that WalMart is selling a lot of things like squash, cucumbers, etc. already growing in pots. I've bought a bunch of them, and am now just trying to get them planted in between rain storms. I started pumpkins indoors in the Spring, so they're already on their way. Where do you live? I'm on the east coast. I guess that's better than the mid-west this year! We're roasting or soaking wet (and we've actually had a tornado go through town this year... luckily I don't live in town) but at least we're not flooding. This year I found a habanero pepper plant (at WalMart) that I'm growing. "World's hottest pepper", they claim. I'm not going to touch it! But my sister-in-law can eat jalapeno peppers raw, so we're going to test her on the habaneros. They're actually good to put in a spray to keep critters out of your garden. That was my main purpose of growing it. Good luck to you and your garden. If you start planning your greenhouse, please share it with me! I'll do likewise.

One part - One part of my garden
Well I have a lot planted all over my yard and the side of the house. This is the main plot. In this I have green onions, yellow onions, Cauliflower, Brocholli, Bell Peppers, Banana Peppers, a few types of tomatoes, and sweet corn as well. the corn will be thinnned out soon. Now I also have zuchinni, bush cucumbers, pickling cucumbers, pole beans (green), strawberries, red rasberries, and 2 apple trees. I think this is all I have. LOL. I guess you could say that gardening is something I like just a little. HAPPY GARDENING FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi There, You are right, working i nthe garden is very soothing. There is just something about it. We spent a good part of yesterday fixing our garden as the weeds had invaded. It does not tire me out as I love doing it. I tend to like to plant more shrubs and bushes than flowers. I love to watch things grow from being very tiny to big. cheers,

I don't have garden right now. I'm living in a small house and only have few plants all in pots with various size. Currently, just have one starfruit tree (but this is my Dad's). I would like to have a garden one day, where there would be a small pool for some little fish, and flowers, and fruits. I always have a dream to plan my own mangoes tree. It would be nice when we can eat the fruits from our own garden. Also, the garden would be a good environment to interact with various animals that come by. Some stray cats often come into my current place even if we only have plants in pots. It's just nice to see them coming because they enjoy the small environment. so, I think the situation would be great if it had been a real garden.
