I used to tag all my posts before but lately I felt a little bit lazy tagging all my posts. I forgot is there any ruling that will affect our earnings if we opted not to tag our posts? I forgot the ruing in here already. Anyway just wondering.

hi rsa. tagging your discussions is important because the more tags and the more accurate these tags are, the better chances your discussions will show up when a mylot users searchers for a topic of the same interest. i try to be as accurate as possible when i put tags in my discussions. that way, the threads ahve better cahnces of being seen by mylot users looking to post in similar topics of interest. hope this helps.

I am just wondering if tagging for responses is neccessary since tagging I think is important only if you are posting a topic but when you are only reposning to a topic it does not matter when you tag it or not.

hi rsa. i also tag the discussions where i've posted as well. this is simply being courteous to the thread starter. think of it as another way to help a fellow mylotter.

I also heard that tagging could be used to post negative/insulting words too as when you submit tags you could not identify who the tag submitter was.

hi rsa101, I think putting tags on your discussion affects your earnings indirectly. You increase your earnings when members respond to the discussions you have started. And you have a better chances that members get to respond to your discussions when you put tag on them because your discussion will be listed in the related topics which respondents could see and might respond to it. I don't think there's a rule that requires you to put a tag in every discussion you start since you have a choice to skip the tagging. Have a great day!

What I meant was when i am responding to an existing post. I am sure that putting tags on your original post will help your posts be tagged with other related topics but when you respond to a post is it really neccessary?

I see. I though you were asking about putting tags to the discussion that you start. Sorry, I misunderstood your question. But I guess there is no rule about not putting tags on the posts that you make.

I think it is since tag is for kinda connection of our discussion to some of the topics here. Members can easily see our discussion even if we are not their friends because of Tags.

I think it depends a lot on the discussion and on your'response as it seems silly to tag something if your response is not very big as on some subjects you just do not have a lot to say, while others you have much more to respond with then I tag that one. I hope it does not affect our earnings.

Put the Tag is right way of starting/responding the discussion.. If it is -- Important or not importaant -- Good or bad -- right or wrong -- easy or not easy According to me, since we have a provision, why not we use it..?? And also, the Tag is used when you search the particular topic of the discussions. Most of the people in mylot, used to respond the discussion, by this way only, because when you select the same topic of discussion you can able to share more things under the same topic.. its easy to respond the same topic of discussion in more numbers with details, than responding the different topic of the discussions. So, please dont get lazyness for put the Tag.. Putting the tag will help you to get the more responses from the above said catagories of the people. All the very best.

I can sense the importance of it in the original posts but in responding to a post i really could not find the importance anymore since the original poster had already tagged it they way they want it to be classified. But our responses is not in any way affected that way that post you responded to is.

Tagging is important in that it links other discussions to yours. For example when you start or respond to a discussion and put a tag on it, the next time someone else sees that discussion, others with the same or similar tags will also appear either at the side of the bottom of the screen. It means you have a greater chance of someone responding to your own discussions. So while it might not seem worthwhile to put tags on discussions that you respond to, by doing so you increase the exposure of your own discussions. It also makes it easier for people who search for discussions using tags as their search option and that measn your own discussions could appear. I have notivced at times that some members have made responses to a string of discussions, all of which seem to have the same or very similar tags. That means using tags can help you with the responses you receive and also your earnings. It takes just a minute to put in tags and I think it is time well spent.

Tagging is important, but it isn't mandatory here. When you tag your discussions, it groups them with other discussions with the same tag. This means that your discussion will be shown at the bottom of other discussions with the same tags. This gets your discussion more exposure, and potentially more earnings. I try to tag all of my discussions, but if I can't come up with any, I don't stress over it.

When I read the rules before I didn't come across anything regarding required to put tags on a discussion you created or you replied to. However, I think it is the responsible way to tag your own discussions when you start them and it's optional if you'd like to add tags to your replies. In general, I see that tags are only used through myLot's search engine :) Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Tags do link your post to other links the has the same topic as yours. I do tag when I see that the topic has less tags and I do not tag those that have long list of tags already. I noticed that the tag you submit is not presented anymore in the tag list.
