do you collect things for some reason?

Paintings, books, dolls, antiques, tools, stamps, craftworks are just some things most people collect. Some people say they collect for a hobby, and some say they simply enjoy collecting. An elder sister of mine also "collects" clothes and bags and these things have now occupied her entire bedroom in her house that you'll hate going up to her room to look things up. She says that it does'nt bother her at all. I remember when I was a kid, I was into collecting stationary where I could write down notes, thoughts, or just anything I feel like writing down. I had them in different colors, sizes, prints, and designs, and some are scented too! I'd write on some for me, and to my friends, and the rest I just keep and place in a special box. But this stopped when I went to college. What I did with my collection? I gave them away to young friends. What about you? do you collect? have your own collection? What for?

Hie Patchmypal, it is great and fun to have a collection of anything. I used to collect story books and started when I was in primary school with those fairy tales, Enid Blytons'. As I was growing up I switched to romance books and I would secretly read them and hide from my mother...lol..
Then the passion for food got me interested with recipe books. My mother started in her younger days too.
And those fairy tale books were given away as it was occupying too much space and collecting dust. Now I am still collecting romance books ( paranormal ) and recipe books which covers lots of international cuisines. We have better space now for books and my brother chip in to the collection too.
And I like to go through the recipe books when I am free, enjoying the pictures and feel the wonders of food although I am not that good at cooking.
Guess this is one thing I will continue to do for the rest of my life...enjoy food :)

Wow! I also read Enid Blyton when I was kid. I also adore cookbooks but don't collect much..I'm now more of a John Grisham and Tom Clancy reader though whenever I feel curling up with a book..well Desierra, happy collecting to us! thanks!

i also collect a lot of stuffs when i was young. i collect stickers, stationaries, cute notebooks, cards, and a lot of other stuffs that can be found in a bookstore. ^__^;; my friends and i usually go to the bookstore after class when we have extra money. and then i got into collecting posters too. but only posters of my favorite anime shows/characters. i collected a lot of anime stuffs.
until now, i collect a lot of stuffs too. i also collect stamps. i usually get them from writing to my friends abroad. but my collection is limited now. because i don't go often to bookstores anymore and i don't spend much anymore on cute stuffs. ^__~ i still have my stationaries, stickers and notebooks from before and i don't plan on giving them away.

Hi secretbear! Well your collection reminds me of mine when I was younger. I just could'nt part with those and would even "guard" my collection against prying eyes of friends and classmates. But then I outgrew all those, and my mother had to share them to the kids. No, I did'nt get heartbroken he he...thanks for the response!

I enjoy dolls and stuff toys too when I was younger, but didnt get to collect much coz' my mom gave them away to younger kids when she decided I've outgrown them and moved on to other stuff. I don't collect cookbooks but do love to watch cooks and chefs do their stuff live or on tv! thanks for sharing missbdoll!

i collect some photos for those photos are some of the precious moments that i have. i also collect some cute stuffs like anime and stuff toys. i'm planning on collecting a scented candles as a new addition to my collections
