Hi there, essentially, Getafreelancer.com works like a auction site.
People who needs service would post their job together with requirements for providers to bid. If you think you can do it then bid. Bid a competitive price and attach sample of your work to look for convincing and hopeful increase the chance of the job posting company or individual engaging your service. Escrow is a sum of money being locked in the Getafreelancer.com account and it will be yours once the job is completed.
Basically it is like this. Cheers and hope my reply answer your query.

I just looked at it. I've never heard of it before, but from what I saw, they match you with freelance jobs that you qualify for.
If you are a copywriter you can find companies who need a freelance copywriter. If you are a web designer, the same thing goes.
From what I gather from your topic, it sounds like you are looking for a site that pays you to write. This doesn't seem to be that kind of site.
Is that what you are looking for?

Associated Content pays you for writing on any topic you want. If your writing is accepted, I believe they pay you for page views. I'm not exactly sure, so you should check them out for yourself. http://www.associatedcontent.com/
Good luck!

I haven't tried getafreelancer.com but if you're looking for writing work then you should check out my friends forum.

The owner posts paying writing jobs for the members. It is an awesome forum to not only find work but to make friends, get help and get feedback on things you have already written. I highly recommend it. :)

I'm not a member of that site, but I did just join one that was similar.
If it's like the other, basically you create an account with what your talents are, and then search for freelance jobs that are posted that you may qualify for.
You bid on the job, saying how much you will accept for payment for doing what the client wants for that project, and they pick someone from list of those that have submitted.

Its (GAF) one of the most active freelance sites. However there is a lot of competition and you need to resort to price-cutting to get projects. There are other good freelance sites you can try. Here is a list of some freelance sites: http://freelancer.devhub.com

Hi sdas86! I am a member of GetAFreelancer.com for almost 6 months now. That is the site where I earned my extra income. Lots of jobs have been offered to me but due to the conflict of the schedule with my regular work, I opt to cancel them. It's free to sign-up. Once done, you have to look up at the jobs that fits your skills and talents, whatever it is. If you find something where you are qualified, you have to bid for that project. Why bid? This is where employers choose their service provider. One of the parameters they look up to is the amount they are going to pay you. Honestly, you can't win a project right away, but you don't have to be discourage because there are tons of jobs available, I'm sure you will win one. Just believe in yourself, your talent and of course, have a good work ethics. Yes, the competition is high because you are competing with skilled workers around the globe. I work as a freelancer during my free time but I'm earning at it. The use of my free time really pay off. Who knows you too can do it. Please take a look at my profile in myLot, then visit my website I've mentioned there. Thanks!
