Do you belong to any of these clubs i know hey do so much for our community and for other charities as well as disaster relief but dont seem to get any thanks or appreciation for all they do. All the service clubs need members but people just don't seem to be interested and if they don't get more members they will not be able to do their work .Do you or anyone you know belong to any of these clubs,or could anyone tell me the difference between them as i am interested in joining one but dont know the difference between them or are they all the same.

I believe that Rotary now allow women members and think the age is open. Lions are the same as far as I know but I think there is an upper age of 40 for Apex. All of them provide a wonderful service for the community and of course are always on the lookout for new members. They never seem to have enough members when it comes time for providing a service to the community.
These days I do not belong to any community service Clubs but now that they do a valuable service. When I was married I was a volunteer member of our local fire brigade but left that when I moved to where I am now living. Basically I do not have the time to be a member of any of these organisations plus I am seldom home during the week to attend meeting etc.
Despite not being a member, whenever they have a fundrasing function or anything like that my partner and I will donate some goods. Mostly it would be fresh produ e if we have any at the time but it could also be some of our jams, preserves, sauces or our eggs from our chooks. Sometimes my partner will donate something that she had made, i.e. craft or sewing stuff. We just make the donation and tell the organisation concerned that it is their decision as to whether they sell the goods or use in a raffle.
So although neither myself or my partner can personally be a member of active in any of these organisations, we do help the only way possible for us.
A friend of ours is a volunteer with the SES. She is now 60 so cannot do a lotof things so now she calls herself the "food and drink lady". lol She is the one who organises for the food and drinks for the SES members when they are called out.

I never thought about this but you are right. I'm not sure but I think one of them (Apex and Rotary)is a mens only club and you can only participate o your husbands behalf and the one is similar. Have you not heard of the Women's service clubs...there is Zonta and I think there is one called Q. I used to belong to Jaycees which is a service club devoted to training the members to succeed in business as well as doing good works within the community. I believe they have changed the name now. The membership was only available till you turned 40 there...I had a great time in that club. As you say it's very difficult to get members and I cannot understand why.
