We use explanations that have been handed down over the years through my family such as:
1. Thunder is God bowling.
2. Lightning is God upset when he doesn't get a strike.
3. Rain is Angels crying.
What do you tell your children to ease their fears during an electrical storm?

She made up her own excuse for lightening.
She says that it's fireworks.
Probably she thinks that because there
was a fireworks display in our neighborhood
on the day it rained. The lightening looks
like the fireworks.
We sit at the window and watch the "fireworks"
and rain during stormy season.
It's lots of fun.

A thunderstorm is just one big sports game in the sky. It always rains in the sky, and when they have a game, it has to move to the earth so the players can play. Thunder is the sound of the audience cheering. The lightning comes from all of the pictures that they are taking of the people that they idolize on the field.
