I'm going nuts here, cause I just can't be as active on my computer today, which means no MyLotting or even writing up articles or in my novel..All day long we've been having thunderstorms...just when I think it's over,...booom...again...so I've decided to stay off the computer as much as possible until things settle down. Have you ever had to stay away from doing any computer work, due to storms, computer problems, or any other reason? Okay signing off..hope things settle to be back again on my computer

It drives me crazy when I can't be on my computer, I guess I am just too scared I am going to miss something...when there is a technical problem I become ver angry, I guess it is safe to say we are sort of addicted...

Hi, sorry things are so hard on you right now. I know that storms are dangerous for electronics so it is better to protect them than to put them in danger. I had one computer that the motherboard was fried (along with the whole network in the house) because we didn't turn it off and disconnect during a storm. I'm sure that things will get better. Have a great weekend!!!

i gave up the other night and just went to bed because of the weather. It caused flickers that seemed to affect my computer. I guess it will be time for you to just read for awhile or something like that. See ya when you come back.

Hi pyewacket! I do stay away from the computer during thunderstorms. Just be on the safe side so I turned it off and just stay away from it for awhile. But for the past two days, I could only stay here for a few minutes because of my splitting headache. Take care and be safe! God bless!

Just today as a matter of fact. I was sitting here typing away in oblivious to the storm outside until power starting flickering on and off. My computer was flashing off and on and off and on. I couldn't turn it off I had to unplug it. I had to stay away from it till the storm had passed, the whole time not knowing whether I had fried my computer and lost all my files! What a relief to find every thing fine... well, I lost the most recent bit of what I was working on, but at least I had just saved it so I do have that. It looks like another one might hit any minute so I might be outta here again soon.

The days we had over 90 degree weather, closer to 100 actually I stayed home, which drives me daft...one of the hot days, I even started getting dressed to go out, as I just plain wanted to go out, then said the hell with it...it was too friggin hot. Aww..sorry to hear about your lizard and spider monkey--wouldn't have thought a lizard would be affected as they are supposed to like hot weather

Yeah, the storms have passed on by and now it's back to hot and humid. I have a lot of outdoor work to do and it's just impossible to do it with the sun beating down on me... I don't know how the plants stand it! I get mild 'sun poisoning' if I'm out in strong sunshine for more that a few minutes. The other day it was somewhere around 90 degrees and I was barely able to drag my body up the road to the store. I thought I was going to faint and I could barely make my legs move. Then I passed these kids out in their back yard, right in the direct noonday sun, playing baseball!!!!!!!! WTF! Don't they have internal temperature gauges? I killed my pet lizard and our spider monkey by putting them in the sun thinking they would enjoy it. I carried that around for awhile. But it taught me that the sun can be a dangerous lover. And since trees can handle Him full strength like that, I like to let them do it, while I hang out in the shade of their limbs. That's probably the main purpose of trees! I don't like to cut them down indiscriminately.

Ya know, I'm beginning to think it's really just one huge thundercloud that is going in circle cause it's lost. I can almost track it by my friends both on and off line saying it's storming at such and such a time in different states and pretty much can predict when it's going to pass over my state and continue on in it's circle. lol Maybe I should become the next weather predictor.

Ugh! I hate having to give 2-part responses when I forget something. I'll stay online thru a storm till the power goes out or flickers and then get offline and shut 'r' down till the storm is over. I always find stuff to do even in pitch darkness.

So far, we are doing ok other than the deluge we got just over a week ago when we got over 4" in under 3hrs. that cause even 10' ditches to overflow for a day. Lord I had to keep turning around and taking different detours on my route cause the roads/ditches that never flooded did with a foot of water flowing over the roads. No way was I going to go thru the water and take a chance on being washed into a 10' ditch on a road that is seldom traveled. I really feel for the people in Indiana and Iowa with whole towns underwater. I know some people in IN were evacuating with their pets thou. This weather is just so crazy. Pyewacket should understand that if computer blows, no story will be written. lol

How is it over in your area? I'm still hearing of all the floodings in Iowa and Indiana ...they say the floods in Iowa are as bad as Katrina..hope people saved their pets and didn't abandon them like they did at Katrina Pyewacket was annoyed that I didn't write in his book last night, but I had to explain to him that I had to turn my computer off to keep it safe so it wouldn't be affected. Hope to write some tonight

Well, you remember cleaning your place? Well, that's what we've been doing today. We sorted out a closet, moving clothes to our clothing and put our night gowns and other stuff in that closet. Then we pulled all the DVD's we could find out and sorted them. We found duplicates and are sending some of them to the roomie's folks. We've, in fact, got a whole box of stuff, socks for the nephew, some gowns for the roomie's mom, the DVD's, some clothes I got off Freecycle that we can't fit in. Tomorrow we're going out to her folks for Father's Day. I'm going to try to type up the movie names for the roomie so we can get them cataloged for her.

We still have a lot to do - to get the roomie able to be able to work from home. We don't have the energy to all the work at once, but if we do a little bit at a time until we get it done - or if we can get a young person to come help - maybe we can get it done before they do it. We were supposed to have one this weekend, but that fell thru. A few weeks ago we went thru our clothes and took a large trash bag over to Goodwill of shirts that either were too small or worn for us. We also put some of the winter clothes away. Now we have another tub to put more of the winter clothes in so we can safely put them out in a shed until next fall. And that doesn't even touch my front room/craft space!

Yikes I wouldn't think a power outage could affect something simple like an answering machine. When our electricity was off for about ten hours total while the electricians did all the rewiring in the building sometime ago, I had one hell of a time trying to get my computer up and running again

Oh yes this has certainly happened to me! Since I have been back from London the power has been cutting out every day for around 2-4 hrs each time. Very, very frustrating as I want to catch up with my backlog of email notifications etc. (have over 1,000 of them!). So I have been trying to get up early to get some time on myLot before the workmen beginnig doing something silly again, like cut the breaker! Then yesterday (Saturday) it started to rain around 8.30am and it didn't stop until after we went to bed (11pm!!!!!). The thunder and lightning were marvellous but after a couple of hours we had had enough. Couldn't go on the computer as the power kept cutting out... :( It is still a little cloudy today but I'm hoping we can go for a walk soon before the rain starts again (groan!!) I hope to be able to work for quite a while today but I don't think the weather and workmen are going to be good to me! Thanks for sharing this with us.

Hiya my friend....we had horrible storms here again tonight...that left a "tree" fatality..the beautiful tree that WAS in front of my bedroom window came crashing down. And I'm emailing as many places as possible with complaints against the stupid tree company that had decided to prune trees at the wrong time of year and weakened them...only reason that tree fell as it did as they did a hatchet job on it

Yes, I've had this problem. I have a lightning conductor on my roof so that when the lightning strikes, it hits the conductor, which in turn, flips the safety fuse. Thus, my computer goes down. That not being good for the computer, I tend to switch off when the storm is closeby or overhead. Brightest Blessings, my friend. I hope you're back in action very soon. x
