The Philippines is a small but beautiful country. There are so many aspects to it. So it is not fair to assume that everything about the Philippines is Manila. After all, there are so many more beautiful places around the country compared to Manila. I have nothing against Manila, but it is not safe to assume that Manila mirrors the entire country. And this is exactly the mentality that keeps international tourists from pursuing other parts of the country. When kidnapping became prevalent in Manila, people didn't want to go to the Philippines for fear of being kidnapped. Mind you, I have never heard of kidnapping where I am from. I think that show "Maynila" should reconsider their title. It was okay to have Maynila as the title, but they should remove the sub title. I think it is a gross misrepresentation of the country. Each city or province or island of this country is unique. We are regionalistic and with that comes our unique traits, values, culture, behavior, etc. etc. Th producers of Maynila should not assume that the rest of the country is patterned after Manila. I think they should research more and stop thinking that they are the center of the world. There is more ...so much more ....to the country than what Manila can offer. Come and visit the rest of Philippines!!! :)

Nice point of view in there. I guess its true that there are indeed a different Philippines behind "Manila". I think its true that we are supposed to change this thinking. But then Manila was the only place that was known before and I guess history revolved around this place as it is the capital of the Nation where almost all of the political events did happen that is why it is registered in the minds of anyone stranger to our country. But as of now, I think this kind of thinking is slowly being changed as there are other spots that are being known and identified to the Philippines like Cebu City, Davao City, and the most famous Boracay and Palawan and even Bohol.

Hello spoiled, I am with you and in fact I got the chance to work in Visayas and Mindanao in my life. I grew up in LUzon but my parents are from Visayas so we moved there in the 80's. After College, I had the opportunity to work in Mindanao. We don't have any relatives there that made my parents worried at first but I decided to accept the job. I love the people, the places. I also do not encounter anything that harm me. I know the news sometimes scares some of the tourists but you are correct,Philippines is not just Maynila, there are so much to discovered about the wonderful Country!

Yes! The Philippines is one of the most beautiful countries that I know. Many tourists also have a great interest in the said country. Even though it is a third-world country, it's not a tumbling stone towards the tourism of the country and I am very proud to say that I am a Filipino. To all the people out there searching for places to go to, I recommend visiting the Philippines. It's a very nice place!
