Why do some people Add Friends to Show Off?

I know a lot of people on facebook who just add friends for no other reason than to just promote their social status on facebook and look cool when they show their profile to everyone else. I know no one will actually say they do here but lets just discuss it

I think you answered your own question. People add all those friends because they want to show off. I may have a lot of friends on facebook, but I am interested in the communication that goes on between us. I also have a lot of friends here on MyLot, and as you can see from my number, I answer a lot of their discussions!!!
