8 Years of Friendship

For, 2 months, my high school friends and I have planned to have a night out. we were not able to do this for a long time because we were all busy at school. Three of them are engineering students in UST, one in UP, another one is a nursing graduate in UST, and I am a very busy dental student in CEU.
Finally, we were able to push through the get together last Sunday (before the calsses start). We met at the TRinoma mall without knowing what to do, as always. We ate our dinner and then went to look for a place to drink. But when we saw one, Jim and Bart us that they would not drink. So what's the point of going there, right? we got out of the mall and instead went to a videoke place Jeffrey suggested. There, we would be able to drink while singing our hearts out. What a great idea!
The place was spacious and it offers cheap rates and food and beer! Just the right place for us!. when we got to our room, the guys immediately started to look for songs. Richard and I organized the orders and decided that we first collect money (whatever amount they can give) so that we will be able to control the expenses. I was surprised that each of us gave P400.00! I know that this is not a big amount but compared to out previous "getaways", (no one would voluntarily contribute more that P200.00) this is a huge amount! Considering we were six that time, that money means a lot of beer!
We all enjoyed singing that night; the line-up of songs never had 2 spaces free! We had a toast every now and then: for our graduate friend, for Bart who finnaly showed up after a few months, for the undergraduates, for our succesful future, for our friendship, and for Boracay! the guys planned that after they graduate next year, we would all go to the famous beach. And the toast was repeated several times to make sure it would happen! (we better start saving money) Throughout the night, richard kept on saying, "ok na ok 'tong lakad naten pre!" Truly, that was one of the best get-yogether we had. We were not sharing problems, making fun of people from the past, or passing through the memory lane (which mostly happened in our house). We were just enjoying! After the place closed at 2:30 am, we ate lugaw at a nearby Mami House and then went home.
As I laid down my bed, thoughts of how old we've become came to my mind. Jim is just waitng for the results of the Nursing board exam before he flies to the U.S., the other 4 guys have 1 year left before theygraduate engineering, and I would be a dental clinician this school year! 8 years have passed since I first met these guys and truly we have made our friendship stronger and stronger. We have been together through good and bad times and I know we will continue to do so for many years more. The night was like a culmination of our friendship for in a few years time, we would be working, having our own families, and would probably be not living in the same country. But at least we have one memorable night together. As I replied to Richard several times, "ok na ok talaga 'to pre!"
