I can't get enough basil! How about you? Are you extreme over spices?

What's your favorite spice that you love to use
on everything?
Tonight I put basil on my noodle dish until the
entire thing looked as if it had been rained on by
a basil parade.
For me, one can never have too much basil.
I am going through a basil phase.
I can live without black pepper and even garlic, but
not basil.
I used to love salt. Not so much anymore.
I use basil on pasta, pizza topping, hotdogs.
You name it!
What's your current spice obsession?

Hello beauty queen. I love my food spicy as well as sweet. I think that I am adjustable kind of person as far as food is concerned. I used to live in a place where the food is very hot, but now I live and work in a place where people love to add some white sugar while cooking the food. hehe.

That is a very unique cooking tip.
I have added some bits of sugar to my chilli
while cooking, to cut the acid nature
of tomatoes but never done so for other dishes or
recipes.
As usual, you always bring the best ideas
to the table!
Be well.
Enjoy your week.

I'm also a basil freak! When I lived in Oregon,I made alot of pasta with Pesto sauce on top. I had a medium sized garden, in the spring I prused thru the seed catologs an found 8 different types of basils, I ordered 1 pack of each. Wow that opened my eyes to the differnt tastes of basils and the types of pesto sauces that you can make, what a wonderful summer that was!!!! tdemex

Good heavens!
There are eight varieties of basil?
I'm just beginning the basil insanity, then.
I will look up those spices online and add them
to my own collectiion. Thank you much for sharing.

I LOVE basil. One summer I grew some in my garden and then I made pesto when I harvested it. It was awesome on pasta. I got through stages with herbs. For a while I used a lot of oregano, then later basil, now I am using thyme in everything. I have to have garlic (preferably minced fresh by me). I use salt and pepper in moderation. I also like to use sweet spices like cinnamon and nutmeg in unusual places, like sauces, meatballs, meatloaves, etc.

I love garlic and I put it on everything, I also love oregano and cilentro. I do not go as far as putting them on other stuff. I mean I never heard of oregano or garlic ice cream. I am not extreme as I believe in moderation in all things. But I guess you did want something for a discussion. Trouble is someone is going to just give you a one or two word answer for this and not go into detail. It is a crying shame, I wanted something interesting.

Hello beautyqueen26.
My current favorite spice/herb is cilantro. I make homemade guacamole alot which calls for fresh cilantro and I make a black beans and yellow rice dish that has fresh chopped cilantro over the top of it. Plus, we like a fresh avocado, tomato, and onion salad that also has cilantro. I love that herb!
I admit that basil is also a favorite and I use that for my tomato, mozzarella and basil salad and white bean and sausage soup. It is delicious also, I agree with you that fresh basil is truly fantastic.
Happy cooking.

I love 'em all but TARRAGON is the absolute best! Yum! That's probably why it's so expensive! Or the fact that it can't be grown from seed. Tarragon is good in meats, vegetables and even desserts! Yum!

If you love basil then I'm sure you love pesto! Yumm! Just the thought of it makes me drool already. I also love basil and I put it on most of my foods. I wish you were near and I could give you a box of basil to feast on. I know how aromatic they are. I also love celery so much I want to eat a salad of it. Just celery, a litle tomato and onion and olive oil. Oh, yumm!

I like pepper, because there is one more reason for that,I am suffering with 'synus',for which hot and spicy is preferd.I do like all the spices equally, and proportionatly.I donot use any spice even salt also limited.

Really, you love basil that much? Are you from India?Well, I like the taste and aroma of basil but I don't like eating the leaves itself. Whenever I order or cook food with basil, I put the leaves at my plate's edge totally neglect it. Of all the spices though, I like eating garlic and onion, beneficial for our health too!
