My husband has suddenly taken a great interest in fishing...

This is to the point of avoiding the things that NEED to be done at home, quite often. The nearest lake is about 20 minutes away from our home, and we can barely afford the gas for him to drive to work with. Yet, he drives his gas hog of a pick-up, pulling a boat, at least once a week to the lake to fish, for at least 6 to 8 hours each time. I have tried to explain the issues with this, but he acts like he can't even hear me, or I'm speaking to him in some unknown language. He won't even bring home any fish, either, and yes I've been along with him and he does fish, but we have 2 small kids, who get bored. Could anyone assist me in how I should handle this? I am tired of him using it as his excuse to leave the house when it apparent that he needs to stay home more often and get some things done around here.

Um .... I would be wondering if he's really fishing. I know you say he is, but he goes for hours and doesn't even bring home any fish?
I think the whole smells fishy to me. Or maybe he just wants some time away from you and the kids. I doubt that he'll change.

Well, he doesn't like to eat fish, but his friend is letting him use his boat this Summer and he's bought a fishing pole for fishing. I have been along a few times, but it's boring because I'm not interested in fishing. He does seem to just be trying to escape, but he also asks me if I want to go along most of the time, too.
I myself would love some time away from the kids, too. I get to be in charge of them 24/7 for the most part.

Oh, and I am so not following him, he'd see my car a mile away, plus I'm not that suspicious, nor that overly interested. I'm just curious about any thoughts about the situation.
