I am running Windows XP Pro on my laptop and we have XP on our desktops, also. I am working on a friend's new computer that has Vista. I like the look of Vista. But, it is much harder to get used to than XP was. One thing that bothers me is the fact that most of the programs you run on XP won't work on Vista. All games have to be Vista compatible, so they've had to buy all new games. Right now, I will stick to XP. Perhaps when all the bugs are worked out in Vista, we might upgrade. But then, there will be a new release out and we can start all over again.

I think XP is far better than vista. Not only is it faster in every way possible, Vista has the crappiest design ever, not to mention it tries way to hard to be secure, but in the end its just as insecure as any other windows version.

hi, I always go for VISTA when computer config is good enough.
I see here couple of guys blaming VISTA for the software compatibility. I don't know why??? It's new OS and and it's obvious the old softwares won't run with it. But, people forget new all softwares are VISTA compatible. And specially games. Can any one tell me a name of new released game which does not run on VISTA. Does XP support DX 10? I remember a game "HITMAN" first of its series never runs on XP. Because its windows 98 compatible( I don't know whether EDIOS changes its compatibility ). It does not mean '98 is better than XP so the XP is better than VISTA.. VISTA has lot of new features that XP can't provide. I've never ever seen VISTA to crash( my computer ). VISTA ultimate is obviously better than XP pro.

hears vistas issues:
it has compatabilty issues solution run compatabilty for xp sp2
its securety is over protective solution run UAC in quietmode
Some issues can simply be solved by makeing a vertual XP
I like it for the most part I customise my Vista
I use firefox
thunderbird
pidion
(mostly non microsoft stuff)
it works with out big issues (most problems i get for the web are from IE7 & IE8

The only thing that hold me from using Vista is my hardware. Once my PC is up to it I will surely use Vista. I always have this habit of ensuring I have a fall back OS, like now I'm using XP but I still have win2000 in one of its boot. If I would have a problem with my current OS I could still access my PC to recover my data and restore it. I've tried Vista actually but I just uninstall it because at that time I need the disk space. One of this day I will reinstall it again to be prepare for my next system upgrade, know the common problems and software adaptation.

well if you asking which operating system i like very much then its Vista. But if you ask me which operating sytem i will install on my system. Then answer will depend on my systems configuration.
If i have to install a operating system on my desktop pc whose configuration is
Pentium III Processor
366 MHz Processor Speed
256 Mb Ram
40 Gb hard disk
Then definitely i will install Windows Xp rather than Vista. Although it is not even possible to install windows vista on system whose ram is less 300 mb.
But if i have system with this configuration
Core 2 Due Processor
1.60 GHz Processor Speed
1 Gb Ram
80 Gb hard disk
Then definitely i will install Windows Vista. No question about that.
