hi mylotters do you ever getinterested in a discussion
only to find that its at leat three years old? I sometimes
feel that no matter how I respond I am not going to make
much sense as I am out of the time frame when it was
made. Does this bother anyone else? I mean I want to make
an intelligent response but the subject is linked more
'to that particular time frame.

hi Hatley,
Yeah it does happen to me many times. I do come across some interesting discussions and want very much to reply to them, but when I see that they are very old ones, then I loose my interest and don't reply , because may be the person is not active anymore.....so why to waste time. But I think there is no harm in replying, we don't loose anything. We will be paid same as we are being paid for replying the recent discussions.........

I don't think I have ever opened a discussion that was that old. I have been here for over a year now. I have opened some that were about a year old though. I still reposn to them because I have valuable input for it. I try to respond to the time frame but I also let them know what I think now too.

Hi Hatley 3 years old wow. I answered on the other week that was a year old that interested me but I don't think I have ever seen a 3 year old one. In fact from the one I replied to we got chatting and they came to visit me last week so I must have answered it for a reason eh! I would answer anyway no matter how old especially if it is something that really interests, who know where it might lead eh! Ellie :D

I have never come across one that is that old, but I have come across some that are two years old! I respond to them though sometimes before I realise how old they actually are!

Hello, Hatley, i haven't, only 1 year old so far. I found that some discussion do have a time limitation, once i met one who asked for help and when i got the discussion, the problem has already been solved. And i also met discussions that the discussion started hasn't been active for half a year or one year, just like that.

Well, right now there shouldn't be any discussions that are three years old because Mylot isn't really that old. I think they started in April or May 2006, but I'm not sure. I often answer really old discussions because I get paid for them whether they are old or not. I really think they should, though, delete discussions that are that old to begin with. I'm sure they're taking up a lot of space on their servers.

The first earnings posted on myLot was May 2006 so that would make the oldest discussion not be more than two years old. I have had responses posted to some of my discussions from Dec of 2006 when I first joined. If the discussions are really pretty old there is the likelihood that the originator is not even active anymore so no-one will see your response.

BTW when I joined the myLot population was 47,000 and now it has really grown a lot to 130,000 of course that includes a large portion of members who are no longer active.

Yes hatley I do... I will see a conversation come up in my friends page and think well how did I miss that one. More often than not I go ahead and post then notice that the time frame as you said over a year or 2 years old... No one I have ever run into considers this a bother tho, adn we all rather enjoy revisiting an old discussion.

Hi Hatley, when I love the topic really, it won't stop me from dropping my response. But, if it is like questions about situation or problem and it's been that old, I will just skip it thinking my opinion is no longer helpful.Nice post!

Go ahead, Patsie.
I encountered the same situation like you before too and I just go ahead and respond.
It remains a win-win for the discussion starter and you.
Cheers!

hi lordwarwizard yes its fun sometimes to answer and hope it
still gets read. I have some older ones that seemed to gather momentum later on and was nicely surprised to see that.

That happen to me, I was writing and answer the question, when I notice it was 6 months ago. I kept writing, I figure I'm almost done. I would just let the person know, if he/she is having the same problem or ask the person if she was able to resolve the problem. One never knows, maybe the person will be happy to know that someone is knowing the outcome.

well i answered a two-year-old discussion before and it was just a logical question, sort of posted under general discussion.
for me it's okay as long as it's not asking me an opinion that has to be based on a 3-year-old situation because my would-be opinion then is worthless.

i don't think that matters. i have found post that are a year old and i still respond to them. i think what matters is that you get involved. your response can be what they needed to hear right now at this moment. that's why the post was there for you to reply too. i say no matter what, if you like the post reply to it

34momma I agree that once you are involved it might be just'
the right time for the answer. I find some of myolder
discussions have gathered a lot more responses. lol.

3-year old discussion? Wow! I never thought myLot could be that old. I thought it's only about 2 years old. Well, I have never seen one that old but I've seen and replied to a couple that have been 1 year old. Could be older but the date settings in mylot can't be as precise.
Same here, if a discussion is time-limited I dno't bother replying anymore. But even if a discussion is 3 or 4 years old if the question still applies today then the next thing I check is the user's profile. If s/he still active then I would reply. But if s/he has been inactive for half a year or more then I won't reply to it.

Yes, I have done this...I feel that depending on the discussion my comment won't be of much use...sometimes I reply and other times I just pass it by...just depends..

I did expreience that here. There are lots of discussions that interests me but they are a year of many months ago. I appreciate very much the postings long before. They have a lot of sense. This is not to offend anybody but I like the posts of the previous mylotters long time ago. There are also nice discussions of today but I like more the topics I meet that were written a year ago or 8-9 monhts ago. lol. Sometimes I replied into it and realized that they are old when I already sent it. lol...

yes, im new and find i've jumped into several old convos.thats why i just jump ahead like this. it is agrivating. reason why i hesitate making new ones, cause i feel i'll forget to check the old ones for responses.
